[Before there was any imagine, only the sound of someone shuffling about with the device could be heard. A muffled 'Does this really work?' in a female voice followed shortly after. More unintelligible mumbling as suddenly a picture of a rather unflattering angle of a drow's face from being held waaaay too close flicked across the screen. A pair of pale white eyes widen in mixture of surprise and excitement.]

Oh! It really does work.

[There was a beat before the drow realized it wasn't just her seeing her own image, but that she was broadcasting it to everyone. There was another little small gasp as the video shifted. Being held out at the proper distance, one could see the woman squarely in the frame. Koh cleared her throat, giving a small wave with her free hand.]

Hello, sorry about that... I was testing out the functions I was told this device was capable of. I don't have anything like this where I am from so just.... familiarizing myself with it. It seems my visit here is a bit more extensive than I previously had hoped it would be. I... usually don't stay in one place for too long. I guess a formal introduction is in order.

My name is Kolnatha Shavval, but you can just all me Koh for short. In case anyone is in need of a healer, I am a cleric by trade. Which, on that note, would anyone happen to know where I can acquire medicinal herbs? Specifically ones that can aid in relieving motion sickness? [There was slight awkward pause.] I... don't exactly have my sea legs yet.

I think there's a place where you can get ginger tea. That helped me.

Ginger tea? That might help in the short term. Anything to alleviate my symptoms is most appreciated.

Yeah. Took awhile, but I'm okay most of the time. Unless the water's really rough.

A friend of mine also told me to just keep looking at the horizon.

Now that, I am not looking forward to. Hopefully we'll be at port if a storm hits.

Let me guess... Is this friend of yours tall with long white hair, looks like an elf, and lacks a sense of humor?

Yeah, I kinda stick to land when it's like that.

Uh...nope. She's tall with long black hair, and I'm pretty sure she has a sense of humour.

Yeah, going to stick to "land" as much as I can help it. I know eventually I will need to get back on a ship if i want to find my way home.

Then your friend is not the person I ran into. Your friend sounds much more personable.

That's what I did at first, but yeah, you just kinda have to get used to it! It also kinda comes with time.

Yeah, Tifa's pretty cool. She helped me out a lot.

I know I will have to force myself to get used to it. Boats and the sea aren't.... my favorite things. It could be worse. We could be flying.

[She chuckles nervously to herself.]

Tifa... [The drow mutters to herself, nodding. She will have to remember that name.] I hope I get a chance to meet her. What ship are you assigned to?

[Ah, Gale recognizes that voice! Gale has not had opportunity to encounter Koh in the week and some change following the masquerade, but he can't deny being glad to know that there's another Faerun native about.]

Miss Shavval! This is a pleasant surprise.

[Well, as pleasant as tumbling through a rift to someplace unfamiliar can be, but being fond of adventure, Gale is keen to look for the silver lining in such cases.]

You may be glad to know there are plenty of remedies for just such an ailment available here, including a draught I myself have concocted. The sea certainly took some getting used to when I first arrived.

[Oh, there was a familiar voice. So this is what her dance partner looked like without the mask and skeletal makeup. She gave him a soft smile, waving her hand one more time.]

Why hello again, Sir Wizard. Thank you for the dance the other night. I wish we could have met under better circumstances.

Something you made? I would be curious on how you make it. Unless the recipe is a closely held secret.

Ah, that such were possible— but as circumstances go, I have seen worse. Despite the chaos that ensued later in the evening, I'm choosing to remember the more pleasant parts— largely the food and the good company.

Is that suspicion or curiosity I hear? A mix of both, perhaps? No, no, it's hardly secret; if you've even a passing interest in alchemy, I believe it is easily replicated.

Well, yes of course. That would be the best solution, however its not going to happen over night. Isn't it nice to enjoy a break now and then?

You plan on spending your whole time living on the ship then? There must be something important drawing you back home.

If I must. {He has a small girl to return to and a brother relying on him to come up with an answer.} Why else would it be called home?

Oh man, I totally feel you on the tech! I'm kinda behind on all that due to, uh, "stuff", back home, and now I gotta catch up all over again.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who needs to 'catch up'. My world has its own technology that is mostly ran on magic. Nothing quite like this however...

If you ask me, the line between magic and technology can be super blurry.

It does feel like that sometimes. Like these devices for example. I can't tell if it's magic or something else that powers them. My own powers is fueled by my faith. I'm not studied on the Weave.

The Weave? You're gunna have to go into detail on that, because it's probably nothing what I think it is.

A wizard would be more educated on the matter but I would be more than happy to explain what I know.

[Koh stops to smile.]

The Weave is what all magic is drawn from. It's like an unseen fabric that touches almost every corner of existence. If you know how to pluck the threads, you can harness its power, to channel it into spells. I lack the talent to understand how it works. But I do like reading books on magic.
