A curious question to my fellow riftfarers — to those who are capable of "summoning" or calling upon powerful beings or even people, how does it work in your world? Any particular requirements? Contracts?

And have you any luck doing so while here? Any changes you've discovered?

[This is a general broadcast type post, so anyone can threadhop if they'd like to swap stories or anything! Cid will be reading everything...with very keen interest.]

In case you're wondering what this is about, while on that ghost ship a girl somehow managed to summon me from a rock she had—materia she called it. She also knew about Ramuh and some of the other Eikons from our world.

Given there was no warning and that she might not be the only one, thought I should give everyone a heads up. For now I'll be trying some tests with her to see how it works and will share the results.

You say that as if I would try to steal something else from you.

I'm not saying I don't trust you not to steal from me, but I believe the idiom suggests at this point that I would be the fool not to take measures to protect my belongings.

Fair enough, I have a strong lock for things myself.

That all aside, what are your thoughts on this whole summoning business? I see you met your would be summoner.

We don't all have sticky fingers.

It's not ideal, but I would be hesitant to forbid her from using her materia, or attempting to, not that I could.

If it was a matter of my inconvenience and her life, I would rather be inconvenienced.

So you've at least met her.

I feel a bit similar, but the others are understandably less so.

I cannot tell anyone else how to feel or how charitable they must be under these circumstances, however I can only say that I would not be interested in letting anyone get hurt simply because it was an unfortunate time to offer my aid.

I have defended worse people than a young lady lost in a foreign land.

I'll still be looking into ways to help our side at least. Give us a bit more choice in the matter at least.

I'm not sure I could claim to be either one of those things right now.

[ Then again, he's never filled in Cid with the happenings in Sanbreque. ]

While that would be more ideal, I may just have to put my trust in her to respect my wishes and leave it to urgent matters only.

If you do have problems, let us know. And you should look into getting a Ring of Returning. At least then you'll be able to return back to where you were fairly easily.
