A curious question to my fellow riftfarers — to those who are capable of "summoning" or calling upon powerful beings or even people, how does it work in your world? Any particular requirements? Contracts?

And have you any luck doing so while here? Any changes you've discovered?

[This is a general broadcast type post, so anyone can threadhop if they'd like to swap stories or anything! Cid will be reading everything...with very keen interest.]

In case you're wondering what this is about, while on that ghost ship a girl somehow managed to summon me from a rock she had—materia she called it. She also knew about Ramuh and some of the other Eikons from our world.

Given there was no warning and that she might not be the only one, thought I should give everyone a heads up. For now I'll be trying some tests with her to see how it works and will share the results.

A bit late for that, I fear. Even if it is as Cid says and your fellows are not yet under the effects, why would anyone wish to take that for granted?

as far as im concerned the curse did not follow those of us who had it here so why worry about it now

[Though, she only knows of Cid's affliction, and not that of the others.]

seems some of us have more pressing matters on hand now

I suppose you are referring to what Cid is speaking of: being summoned against one's will.

though from the sounds of it i have nothing to worry about

if what you say is true about this lady of the vortex then i doubt anyone would want garuda as their ally

even i can admit there are far better options

[She isn't much of a "helper" anyway.]

Better options in what sense? Certainly there are things that only you can bring to the table.

or if you need someone who does not mind a little blood

then perhaps yes i could be a fair option

I am not asking what Garuda can bring.

Rather, I am inquiring about the woman who bears this Warden of Wind.

She just presses a button and hopes for the best, and you'll never guess which one she's accidentally pressed. Again. Without realizing it.

So, G'raha will be met with a vast white ceiling, with Benedikta's forehead and her furrowed brow peeking in on the side.]

Why does everyone insist on phoning!? Who is this?

[ G'raha can't help it. This is just too funny and it's clear that Benedikta just doesn't know how to use one of these devices.

He'll help her out later. ]

Why Miss Benedikta. You mean to say that our time together has been utterly forgettable? How deeply wounded I am.

Still leaving her phone on the table, she sounds very far away now as she leans back on her couch.]

Some of these names are not exactly conducive to their users.

I suppose not, no. Then again, you might have to know the other person extremely well for it to make sense.

Honestly, hearing that you are the Lady of the Vortex is not truly surprising. It seems fitting, in a way.

You are not the first person to tell me. How so, given that you know a different version of her?

According to the Ixali, those that worship Garuda, they had been sent far and wide due to the evil spreading below the clouds. Garuda called them to descend to the earth to cleanse it of this evil. Thus Garuda is seen as benevolent and promising of a reward in the future.

Yet during the Age of Myth, Garuda defeated and had to feast upon the Lord of Snake. Due to this, she then also craved the flesh of mortals - the very same that she had once called on the Ixali to protect.

Now I have never been on your bad side, but I get the impression but you show favor to those whom you wish. Yet you are not without bite either.

That sounds like her.

[There's a hint of sarcasm edging her voice, but some truth to it, too.]

If you asked anyone else, they might agree with you. But it is true what you say... I don't mind sinking my claws into something every now and then. However, Garuda is anything but benevolent or promising of any reward, and she never was. It would do you better to not trust her.

[Or Benedikta, for that matter.]

I've no knowledge of the "legends", simply what I know myself, but if she can be unkind even to those on my good side, I cannot imagine what she might do to those who are not.

[Actually, she can. Just look at Clive.]

Mayhap it is a good thing, then, that I am not about to make it a point to find myself on your bad side.

Truly, you have been one to tease, but I do not find this to be a bad trait to have.

There are many people in this world that have a bite to them, when needed. And there are times where it is certainly just that:
