A curious question to my fellow riftfarers — to those who are capable of "summoning" or calling upon powerful beings or even people, how does it work in your world? Any particular requirements? Contracts?

And have you any luck doing so while here? Any changes you've discovered?

[This is a general broadcast type post, so anyone can threadhop if they'd like to swap stories or anything! Cid will be reading everything...with very keen interest.]

In case you're wondering what this is about, while on that ghost ship a girl somehow managed to summon me from a rock she had—materia she called it. She also knew about Ramuh and some of the other Eikons from our world.

Given there was no warning and that she might not be the only one, thought I should give everyone a heads up. For now I'll be trying some tests with her to see how it works and will share the results.

In my fully primed form, I appear to be no larger than a sparrow. Somehow, our ability to reach full priming has been hindered.

How did you even manage it?

I'm not entirely sure of the details of how it happened.

Lady Benedikta had thrown me at the ghost ship harbouring the undead.

[Just. Gonna stop and stare at some blank spot on the wall with a sigh and then shake his head. Yeah that sounds like her all right.]

Is that why you primed?

Yes, that's correct.

We were being overwhelmed by a horde of those undead skeletons. We had no choice but to fly at the time.

And let's just say she took it quite literally.

I was still able to use my magic... But it seems my power has been greatly limited in this form as well. After a time, I returned to my usual self. As if I faded from a usual prime.

It's ... confusing. To say the least.

And how did you feel afterward?

Feel anything strange?

Surprisngly alright... Albeit a bit dizzy and weak from the exhaustion.

[Nothing out of the ordinary. Even with or without the curse...]

That's good to hear at least. Still, I'd advise against trying to prime for now at least, especially if this is what's going to happen.

[Confusing as it is... And something he should look into regardless.]

I'll do my best. Until we find out more.

[He can't really promise he won't semi-prime, at least. Sometimes the situation just calls for it. So.]

Have you heard of anyone else having their powers limited despite having a tattoo?

A bit here and there. On the current topic, some find they are unable to summon their own creatures from their world. There are also a few who find their magic limited or weakened compared to what they are able to wield back in their world.

If I had to guess, it must be due to being in a different world and magic working differently here than our own. The fact we can't even use our magic unless we have the tattoos is proof of that.

There are many variables, then. A mystery that we might not even find the answers to.

In any case, I should get my tattoo replenished soon. You should do the same. Perhaps before you're summoned.

Right, I almost forgot about that. I don't use my skills all that often so I don't notice, but never hurts to do it on a routine schedule. Especially as you say, that summoning bit.

Hard to believe we've been here for, what, three months now?

Three months has gone by quickly. It's hard to believe that it has. It's a blur if I'm being perfectly honest...
