I hate to be the bearer of bad news for Sora-san's aspirational dreams, but while there are fish that are considered unnatural-looking by many living in the depths of the ocean, he would probably die from the atmospheric pressure if he tried to actually reach the very bottom. At least, if the ocean here is anything like how I know it back home.
[Even if he tried to do it in merform, there's only so far deep that even merfolk can go before they would start feeling sick if they attempted it...]
It would take some serious magic to account for all kinds of factors: being able to breathe underwater being an obvious matter, of course, but there's also being able to withstand the atmospheric pressure the further down you dive, accounting for any unexpected currents so that you don't get pulled or thrown into sharp rocks, whether or not you can even see anything once you start going past where sunlight can't even reach...
It's not something I want to call entirely impossible, but it would be extremely difficult to do. Even most merfolk don't bother with attempting to dive so deep into the depths of the ocean, since darkness and atmospheric pressure can still cause harm to those unprepared.
Submarines also have to take care to keep atmospheric pressure in mine. If one dives down far too deep and is thus exposed to pressure that the submarine is not built to handle... well. Let's just say that you would not want to be inside the submarine when that happens.
