Good day, everyone.
[An easily polite opening, Turo carrying the phone in hand, just getting a shot of his head and shoulder—]
My apologies for being on low contact for a while, even thought some of you could still easily find me at Cosmo Conservatory animal sanctuary. There was a... much needed break taken, one could say. Not that it was completely filled with rest.
[—some could likely recognize Dojima sitting on the floor within view, Mariposa walking up beside the man and setting one of the wiggly, squeaky-noise making puppies right into the man's hands. More than one in view as while Dojima was playing with them, well.
In a short amount of time the detective was simply on his back and at the 'mercy' of Xolos puppies just starting to get their paws under them. Iron Valiant carrying a few clean blankets simply stepping over/around it all easily.
Turo focusing the camera on himself, a very sleepy Xolos puppy cradled against his chest -a few white spots on otherwise black fuzz- with a loose lavender 'ribbon' around its neck. Could possibly count 8 puppies in total.]
Mariposa made sure of that. Once they are a little older, and house trained, these little ones going off to a less crowded home may do them well; and do not worry if you do consider it, this breed does do well around other animals.
Do feel free to stop by and visit in person, or simply ask over this.
[Despite that Things Keep Happening™ there, at least this had been a brighter spot.]

fashionably! Video
A breed of dog native to this world called Xolos; they remind me of a couple creatures from my world, I must say. There is a pack that has made Cosmo Conservatory their home, and she parted from them.
[Mariposa's head popped up over Turo's shoulder, given he had sat down, and she did brush a lick over the puppy's head he held before resting her head on his shoulder in a way she could look through the shellphone's camera as well.
Seemed to be a smile there, or as much of one as a dog could muster, warmth to it.]
I have caught sight of other packs on Eltrut as well, but they may spread further. friendly, and natural guardians with a deep loyalty once they have chosen a place or even creature.

But she watches with a fond smile. Ah, she wishes that she could give Mariposa a scratch behind her ears!!!]
Huh, I've never seen them before, even being round the Conservatory a few times. [Though, it is a very big place, and she's mostly been spending time with the baby whales when she has been there, so possible she missed them.] Are they mostly a wild breed of dogs?

Mariposa even leaned against Turo's back, content right where she was while sitting behind him, the puppy still wiggling a little bit in his hold. Settling in mostly.]
They do move often, and at times accompany those volunteering as guards for their rounds. [Easy to just miss, busy as they seemed when not simply laying out somewhere.] They are, from what I have been able to gather- yet some choose to domesticate, as Mariposa did.
I came across storied legends in the Archive about them, even if most in pieces.

[That is to say: do tell!]

[It was said with a chuckle, a hand ruffling Mariposa's ears and those bright feathers even as he spoke.]
Many stories bring up fire, them being bringers of it and using it against creatures to protect those they have deemed to protect. A single person, families, or entire towns kept warm by the Xolos' fires that keep the protected warm and burn those who seek their harm.
Others speak of them guarding certain souls, as if reborn, finding them each time no matter how many of their own fires go out and burn brightly over and over. Some speak of them coming from the Farplane originally, as if that is the source of their flame. Guardians and guides alike, able to look into someone's soul and deciding from that to never leave their side in life or in death.
A more complete one I found involved a lost child, separated from their entire people by rushing waters and darkness- [Which led into an entire pack coming across the nameless child, taken in and fed, treated like the older pups. Taught to hunt, and somehow even taught how to fashion animals hides for clothing; legends could be strange in parts of their tale.
Some parts were missing of course- but somehow it ended with an older child reuniting with their people and the Xolos being seen as family for generations.]
All of them speak of the Xolos as such in one way or another.

Like loyal companions. I don't think I remember seeing them in the Farplane when I was down there, but... it would make sense.
[Some dogs are just loyal right to the very end, and it would seem these are no exception to that rule.]
How did you meet Mariposa, then?
no subject
I do not recall either, but perhaps it was a myth started because someone believed they saw something to convince them of it.
[Mariposa had leaned against Turo as he spoke, head still just there on his shoulder.]
Funnily enough it was on a walk around Cosmo's grounds; the pack she was a part of had just come in and were exploring. I watched them for a while, and then she seemed to break away once she spotted me. Came with me for my rounds and simply... stayed.

[A tilt of her head.]
Maybe next time I'm visiting Red, I could come by to meet some of them?
no subject
[Even if he had to lay low for a bit due to accusations... but hey.
He hummed-]
I do not see why not, they are very friendly and seem to enjoy visiting with those who stop by if not out with any of the volunteers.
