[ a new voice comes across the network today, low in pitch, fantasy british, but with little inflection, like this is a person who is used to hiding her innermost thoughts. she considered using the video function, but she's still a little too cautious for that. ]

Right. So. Got a few questions. First: Anybody got a lead on good coffee 'round here? Best places, preferred makers or types? Haven't been this long without a cup since I was a teenager.

[ and nobody wants to see her make her own. it'll work for her, but, well.. the results are terrifying. ]

Second: I may be in the market for something to do. Back home I've a reputation for finding things, researching. Might be interested in helping out.

[ people who are good at reading between the lines can pick up that she means she is definitely interested in helping out and putting her expertise to good use. ]

Third: Any leads on writing ink? My pen could use a refill and I have more than a few notes to go over already.

Fourth: ...nail polish? Or is that too much to hope for?

[ this is something of a distraction. yes, she loves keeping her nails painted (specifically in teal) and her eyeliner game is to die for, but a lot of what she's asking for is also a way for her to judge who reacts and how. those reactions will tell her a lot about the type of people are here and who can potentially be trusted for what, who has what kind of information, and the like.

It's quite a mouthful, really. Surasthana Cafe. I was told it was near the edge of the shell and if I was interested in helping test a "Kamera" [He says the word with no small amount of disdain. He knows full-well what a camera is.] I should speak with the proprietor. Personally, I'm more interested in the coffee and tea. If this place claims to be civilized it should be ready to prove it.

I've seen worse at home. You should try some of our Tevinter names. [ there are orlesian and qunari names that are worse. honestly surasthana almost feels like home. it's comforting, in an odd way.

hilariously "camera" is a new term for her. those don't exist in thedas. but for right now, she files the term away and focuses on the conversation. ]

I know several people who would prefer tea. Maybe I'll take Lace by sometime, so we can test both out. She drinks tea; I only drink coffee. If you do stop by for a cup, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the quality.

I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with "Tevinter", but I assume if I told you I'm French, you'd be just as lost, so at least we're even.

[Amusingly, a lot of his French words would sound a lot like Orlesian.]

True enough. Would be interested to trade notes sometime.

[ she is, after all, nothing if not a person who thirsts for knowledge. and hates unanswered questions. what "french" is has now become one of them. ]

Nothing else hits the spot. Or keeps me awake when I need it to. [ she's something of a workaholic and the late night case studies never go as well over a cup of tea. that's lace and emmrich's thing. ] Neve. Still something of a new arrival, trying to get my bearings here.

Ah, so both of us are trying to figure things out. Hopefully you have friends with more experience than both of us. It helps.

[ she's got two friends from home and even though they don't have all the answers, it's nice to have that support. ]

I do, actually. A teammate arrived with me who comes from a world like this one. She might even be willing to share her knowledge, if I mind my manners.

That's good. Helps to have a familiar face here. Better if they're willing to share information with you. Sounds like it'll be worth minding those manners.

[And more than he realized he'd want it. He and Elizabeth hadn't exactly parted on the best of terms in their own world, but letting by-gones be by-gones here was likely the best course of action, at least until things made a bit more sense.]
