[ a new voice comes across the network today, low in pitch, fantasy british, but with little inflection, like this is a person who is used to hiding her innermost thoughts. she considered using the video function, but she's still a little too cautious for that. ]
Right. So. Got a few questions. First: Anybody got a lead on good coffee 'round here? Best places, preferred makers or types? Haven't been this long without a cup since I was a teenager.
[ and nobody wants to see her make her own. it'll work for her, but, well.. the results are terrifying. ]
Second: I may be in the market for something to do. Back home I've a reputation for finding things, researching. Might be interested in helping out.
[ people who are good at reading between the lines can pick up that she means she is definitely interested in helping out and putting her expertise to good use. ]
Third: Any leads on writing ink? My pen could use a refill and I have more than a few notes to go over already.
Fourth: ...nail polish? Or is that too much to hope for?
[ this is something of a distraction. yes, she loves keeping her nails painted (specifically in teal) and her eyeliner game is to die for, but a lot of what she's asking for is also a way for her to judge who reacts and how. those reactions will tell her a lot about the type of people are here and who can potentially be trusted for what, who has what kind of information, and the like.
her connection game starts here. ]

I know of one cafe, though I haven't stopped by just yet. I really ought to rectify that, honestly. Living on the back of a giant sea turtle is bad enough, let alone facing the ridiculous without serviceable coffee.

[ literally all hours. she'd wander into the kitchen at 4am and lucanis would be standing there with a cup in hand and the coffeemaker hot. ]

hilariously "camera" is a new term for her. those don't exist in thedas. but for right now, she files the term away and focuses on the conversation. ]
I know several people who would prefer tea. Maybe I'll take Lace by sometime, so we can test both out. She drinks tea; I only drink coffee. If you do stop by for a cup, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the quality.

[Amusingly, a lot of his French words would sound a lot like Orlesian.]
Why limit your horizons by only drinking coffee? [He has no issue with tea, and a very dear...colleague of his also only drinks tea.] I'll be sure to do so. My name is Jean-Phillipe, by the way.

2. The MANTA Board is a good starting point
3. Seal & Cant [[insert address on Eltrut here]]
4. My apologies. I cannot help with this one.
text
2. Yeah, heard about that. I was thinking more the type of work some might not advertise like that.
3. Another thanks.
4. Well, can't win them all, can we?
Appreciate the information. I'll be certain to check both of those addresses.

However, if you are truly interested in research and finding things, the Paladins recently had their entire base of operations upended. They have archives that may need rescuing from the ocean waters or simply the nearby streets and looters.
[ Sherlock hopes the small cafe he sometimes visited there was managing amid the chaos. ]

[ much as she appreciates the suggestion, she knows well that there are always some who prefer word of mouth for their crises, rather than posting them on a board and hoping for bites. she'd be surprised if there weren't any of those types somewhere in this world. ]
That's certainly a good place to start. Love the water, can't say I'd be good at swmming for things these days. But I can look around the streets and rescue things from looters. Bit like at home, in a way. [ it's rough when you have a metal prosthetic leg. she's not about to risk that. ] Thanks. Appreciate the suggestions.

Yeah, just assume Sherry said the right one. That was 100% my mistake lol

As someone else who finds information, things, and people for a living, I suggest you make good friends with the animals. Pick up a magic through the tattoos that will allow you to speak to a family of choice.
[Benedikta and her birds, for example.]
And second: I know of several shops that sell high quality nail colours.
[Neve can take her pick on which one she would like to discuss first. :)]
private voice;
[ she sounds disbelieving in the way that one whose world has no equivalent ability would. and then it almost immediately turns interested. ]
Wish we had that at home. Might finally get to know what goes on in Assan's head if we did.
[ she doesn't know who knows about assan and whether davrin is keeping his existence secret here or just keeping him away from anyone who might potentially try to brand him. ]
If I did decide to try, would you have any suggestions on choices? Can't say I've ever had much to do with wildlife. Cats like me back home in Minrathous, but I'm not a wilderness person.
Any teals available? I'll take white in a pinch, but teal nails and eyeliner are what I always have on at home.
Re: private voice;
My suggestion is pick an animal that has an easy time getting into places, so felines would not be a terrible one to choose. They can fit quite literally anywhere, and no one suspects them to be listening.
I've my birds, quite a few loyal ones scattered about the world for when I need it.
Re: private voice;
the idea of cats being able to spy for her... that's a thought. she does get along with cats, or at least the ones that haunt dock town. but it would be another way for the tattoos to potentially be used against her, if that ever comes into play. she's still not convinced that echos of control, threads someone could pull to hurt them, aren't etched into these. ]
Interesting. How does one go about earning their trust? Does that also come with the magic or is that something I'll have to figure out on my own?
[ well, she'll certainly be taking this into consideration. and immediately talking to davrin about it. and probably lace as well. ]
I'm more accustomed to city life, myself. The cats I knew back home in Dock Town tended to follow me before I ever started to look for them.

[Davrin that's gross.]
Out of luck with coffee, though. Haven't paid much attention.
voice;
[ look, sometimes one takes what one can get. and smelling like the ocean? actually the best option here. ]
Damn. Some help you are. [ there's a big tease in her voice here. ] All right, you get to help me look, then.
voice;
[There is so much fish-related food here.]
Hey, I'm a monster hunter, not a coffee hunter. But... I guess if I've got to.
[Two can play at teasing.]
voice;
[ hey at least that's a positive. she'll take that win. ]
I'll pay you in treats. And time off.
[ treats for assan and babysitting, is what she means, but she's still not sure how many people know about the boy or if davrin was keeping assan off the streets when they met to keep him hidden or just out of reach. ]

I'm rather new myself, so if you get an answer to your first and fourth points, I'd love to hear about it. Personally I'm rather desperate for a good cup of tea.
[ but she'll take some good coffee. ]
A reputation for finding things, hm? Is it rude to ask what you did back home?
voice
[ it'll still be better quality than anything she could make herself. ]
Neighborhood detective. Investigator. Public annoyance. Depends on who you ask. I help people, but often times those in charge don't like what I do.
no subject
[ But she'll settle for getting it somewhere for now. ]
Public annoyance is a profession? Do you make a good living with that one?
no subject
[ it's funny how bad her coffee is because of how lucanis and viago reacted to it. at this point, she'd rather spend time drinking good coffee than making her own tolerable kind. ]
Depends on who you ask. Helping people pays enough, not well. Annoying people who need a swift kick in the ass doesn't pay in anything but the knowledge that the streets will be a little safer after.

[ Almyran coffee is... A thing. ]
There should be plenty of ink too. I know I haven't had any issues finding any.
video;
[ and she'd drink hers. terrible as it was, it still did the job she needed it to do. she already misses the brews lucanis leaves out for her, but he's not here so she won't get any of that. ]
That's good to know. I take notes on the run. Would hate to run out of ink when I need it most. Hard to keep track of things if I can't write. I assume you understand that sentiment.
no subject
[ He wants to ask how she could mess things up so bad for that to be the result. Claude, politely, does not. At this time. ]
Anyway, I actually do. Now I don't take notes on the go so to speak, but my walls are absolutely covered. People say it's chaotic, but I say everything is strategically placed.
no subject
[ look, she's talented at a lot of things. cooking and making coffee? not part of it. there's a reason she's always on dish duty when it's group pot luck and why lucanis always makes her meals these days. otherwise she'd be back to subsisting on halos's fried fish every day in minrathous. ]
Oh really? Sounds like mine at home. Case notes pinned on the walls where I can move them around more easily, study and make connections. Much easier than just keeping them in one place.
