[ a new voice comes across the network today, low in pitch, fantasy british, but with little inflection, like this is a person who is used to hiding her innermost thoughts. she considered using the video function, but she's still a little too cautious for that. ]

Right. So. Got a few questions. First: Anybody got a lead on good coffee 'round here? Best places, preferred makers or types? Haven't been this long without a cup since I was a teenager.

[ and nobody wants to see her make her own. it'll work for her, but, well.. the results are terrifying. ]

Second: I may be in the market for something to do. Back home I've a reputation for finding things, researching. Might be interested in helping out.

[ people who are good at reading between the lines can pick up that she means she is definitely interested in helping out and putting her expertise to good use. ]

Third: Any leads on writing ink? My pen could use a refill and I have more than a few notes to go over already.

Fourth: ...nail polish? Or is that too much to hope for?

[ this is something of a distraction. yes, she loves keeping her nails painted (specifically in teal) and her eyeliner game is to die for, but a lot of what she's asking for is also a way for her to judge who reacts and how. those reactions will tell her a lot about the type of people are here and who can potentially be trusted for what, who has what kind of information, and the like.

Hmm, please do. I would not mind getting to know someone who's gained the trust of the cats. And I am sure that we could both benefit from that.

Even if they find it difficult to work well with one another does not mean that we couldn't.

True enough. As would your birds. I won't turn down good contacts here. Connections help everyone in the long run.

[ her tone is amiable, but if this woman wants to use the animals neve befriends and their information, neve is going to point toward the same working in reverse. with some trust built, or at least the expectations of their working relationship, neve is willing to share information if it's relevant. ]

As for your other question... you mentioned teal colours?

That would be preferable.

[ teals work best with her skin tone and dark eyes. it's a good color that pops for her. ]

Nail polish and eye make-up, if you've got a lead on it.

[Benedikta would agree with those colours on her if they ever did meet face to face.]

Oh, plenty. It is not just information that I am good at finding. You are Paladin or Corsair?

[ there's only the briefest hesitation, the sort of pause that comes from a mind internally saying "why are you asking." ]

Paladin. I assume this will determine the place you'd suggest for me?

Indeed. Then you will not suffer the consequences of traveling to Elah, as most of the best boutiques I have been to are on that Leviathan. There are even small shops where there are women who will do your nails for you for a price, if you are looking for more of a pamper.

[ the words are offered dryly, but she knows that, at the end of the day, she is lucky to be a paladin at this moment. as far as she can tell, it's random chance who finds themselves a part of which armada, for better or worse. ]

Can't say I've been statused enough for that sort of attention. [ the funny thing here is she could have been, but she chose not to be. she doesn't have the lineage to be considered an altus, let alone a future magister, but pampered like this? certainly could've. ] Good to know, though. Might end up meeting there one day, if you're still able to travel to these?

I could. It is not much of a problem with these potions... if you would be willing to meet. Perhaps when all of this blows over, as they say.

That would work just fine for me. I have been looking to treat my nails to something nice, and I ought to check in with my Elah connections as well... when that time comes.
