Okaaaaay! I know what you are all here for today, a bounty? A chance to beat someone's face in!? I want that too, but I'm bringing somethin' else to the table.
[ the camera shuffles, surge can be seen relaxing on someone's bed with her legs crossed, and what seems to be a small book in hand. the background suggests she's in a very tidy room which doesn't match her personality, however... in the corner of the video, a busted down door can be seen with the hinges broken off, and then the camera's readjusted to show only surge and that mischievous smile of hers. ]
So Chick had me thinkin' you know, everyone got a lil creative side, so I thought maybe revealing these techniques would lighten everything up.
[ leaning up, surge flips through the book in hand searching for something and... ]
Aha! So I'll start with someone I know who does this almost every day. Ahem! Here we have one that happens to the best of us. I feel as if this one needs a beat... DRIPPY, HAND ME THAT GUITAR....
[ with the guitar in hand, and the questionable pick is when surge begins to strum at the strings to find a beat. she's a little taken aback on how this works because this is different from what she's seen, but her beat is off-rhythm and she gives a little screamo action on this poetic piece of literature she memorized as another piece of art slides on screen. ]
[ that one speaks for itself as surge finishes up her "technique" on the guitar, one of the strings snapping, and she throws it on the floor afterwards. with that done, surge flips to another page, squinting to look over at her camerafox picture he wants to use then down at the writing.
MY WALLET IS SO EMPTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I COULD USE A PENNYYYYYYYY OR TWENTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
THE STAAAAAAAAAAAATEEEEEEEEE OF MY BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNKKKKKKK SO UNKEMPTLYYYYYYYYYYYY
DOO DOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOO, DEE DEEEEEEEEEEEEE DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
once found, the picture takes the entire view. ]
[ as they prepare for the next one, surge is shuffling through pages unable to find what she wants... ] This next one gunna take a minute, Drippy do a commercial break or somethin' I need to find this one.
Bees buzzing so loud
Crocodiles full of sound
It's snowing on Mt. Fuji

[ kit and surge each leave from one side of the camera, going offscreen until...
a piece of paper is lifted in front of the camera, and slowly moved from one side to the other. behind it, some might recognize that they're hearing kitsunami's voice. ]

Do do do do doo, do do d-do do... Doo... Do not buy Build-A-Bot!
[ after this important message, the picture slides off camera, and now surge is somewhere else inside of the room, and there's a little quaint desk for calligraphy by her side. surge stands with sharktooth grin as another image comes from above, covering the camera. again, surge's voice can be heard as she reads off another hit. ] For the finale of Peaches' Hikes, we'll end it off on one that makes a lotta sense to me.
[ here comes the last image from below, covering the shellphone screen, and revealing... a masterpiece as surge reads off that little book she has. ]
Seashells on the sea shore
There is a very loud snore
Ignoring it is a chore
Would like to stop being poor
Waiting around is a bore
Well, there ya have it! All sorts of creative Hikes in this little book, now if anyone has any critiques or things they'd like to say. Love, love, looooooooooooooooooove to hear'em.
[ she throws the book onto the ground as she's done with it. ] Anyway, everyone say thank you to Della Duck for bringing us together as a community to showcase our talents. Remember to like and subscribe.
[ one last piece of paper comes on the screen. ]

Starline wasted everything because he's dead and doesn't have us at all. Keep that in mind. He's the one who ran out of time.

You might even say that you owe me.

[ call his bluff, there's no way he did anything. to be so confident to say it aloud where people can hear!?
...it's hard to take this seriously with whatever that is playing in the background.
her brow twitches at the lack of seriousness there is as she slams her hands down on espio's quaint table. ]

If it weren't for my showdown with Starline, you wouldn't be where you are right now.
Do you believe Sonic has the quills to permanently take Starline off the board? If it were up to him, you'd still be under his pointy little shoe heel.
You're welcome, by the way.
And you think I'm goin' to believe that!?
[ even though part is true.
it's not like starline would get himself killed, for as annoying as he was, he always had a contingency plan. ]
I mean... yeah, that blue hedgehog will always let us suffer, but the rest!?
[ "you're welcome" it sounds so vicious because what does he have to lie about, but who says its the truth. ]
Why... if you did it... why did you do it?
Because that duck-billed sycophant had the gall to believe he knew better than me. His ego inflated his sense of self. He thought he could do what I do better.
And I promise you. No one does what I do better than me.
I put him in his place. Which just so happened to be a garbage compactor. And I'd do it again, proudly.
Do you know why?
Because it's what.
I.

...Fine, you managed to wipe the floor with him. He was weak! It was inevitable.
[ but he did it so easily and even talks to surge so proudly, he got rid of him, so when will surge's time come when she can easily get rid of sonic.
and then eggman next. ]
He deserved his death a thousand times over! I can't be like him, I have to destroy who stands in my way because that's what I want.
[ but "who" has a name, there's only one person she needs to be better than, who she needs to destroy, who stands in her way... if she can't then she'll suffer endlessly. ]

You really are like me!
You even have a spineless underling you force to do your bidding!
Why, the comparisons practically write themselves!
Oh, and before you go on one of your little "I'm going to be a hero~" tangents, I should remind you.
All of us, are the heroes of our own stories. I'm certainly the hero in mine.

[ you can't be bad, and be a hero, but she's bad and people praised her like a hero.
surge won't even back kit up because he is spineless, he does whatever she says, but that's because it's his choice to be spineless. ]
Are heros... selfish?
[ because it's hard to tell if eggman isn't selfish, doesn't he only think about himself in the grand scheme of things. she shouldn't humor this, but there's questions she wants answers to.
it's his fault why she's living this pathetic life she has now, even though he released her from starline's clutches, she still suffers. if only sonic had... ]
Who are you saving!?
Selfish? My dear Surge...
'Heroes' are the most selfish people in the world!
They go around imposing their ideologies on people. Preaching about the 'greater good' or some lofty moral platitudes. Look at Sonic and his diminutive little tagalong. They preach about doing 'the right thing' and yet Sonic refuses to strike the final, decisive blow. It's a game to him as much as it is to me. All I do is up the stakes. And Tails? All of his talk about finding other ways? Other paths? Who do you think that's for? My safety of his conscience? For all his...meager brilliance, he's deluded himself to follow in the footsteps of that brainless hedgehog.
But, allow me to elucidate. Heroes are meant to be trustworthy, yes? Honest? Maybe even forthcoming?
I make my intentions clear from the very start, Surge. I don't hide behind platitudes and parables. I am dedicated wholly and solely to my vision. A world I control.
My path may be winding, but my destination never changes.
Perhaps the next time you speak to Sonic or Tails, you should ask them what their destinations are. I can promise you they have none.
They wait for the world to burn. They douse the fires. If it weren't for me, they wouldn't even be needed.
Will it make you happy by the end?
[ shadow said something about she needs to find what makes her happy because killing sonic won't do that. but won't it? it's a hurdle to prove to herself that she can grow, that she can be better than him, to be the hero that he's unable to be. she'd have a destination even after he dies, one that doesn't stop, but even from sonic's mouth, she's never heard him call himself a hero.
everyone else did.
they're just doing whatever whenever they want.
surge's fingers curl into a fist outside of the camera, but there's a small snap of electricity that comes from her bracelet.
isn't that selfish too, does that make her selfish, is it warranted? ]
Sonic has showed you up over and over again, failing to take you out completely. Despite it all, you have a goal and they're just... doing whatever comes up and waitin' for it to happen again... is that even heroic?
Why do you think I persist, Surge? Because I have a goal. Victory. Complete and total victory. On my terms. What do Sonic and Tails do after they win? What does the Restoration do? They rebuild. They set all of their little dominoes back up and go back to their pedantic little lives. They go on vacations and trips. They have little races and parties. They set the game board and they wait. Wait for me to come back and knock it all down again.
Your hatred of Sonic and Tails should extend so much further. And why? Because they adhere to principles and beliefs that put them strictly at odds with the necessities of their survival. In fact, I daresay that only a handful of you furballs actually understand the meaning of consequence.
[Shadow, Espio, anyone who wishes to act with any sort of finality. They're the ones Eggman has difficulty manipulating. Fortunately, there are those who won't give in to their baser urges.]
Let me define for you what a 'hero' should be, Surge. A hero makes sacrifices. They sacrifice their mind, their body, their principles for the sake of the greater good. A hero is someone who will throw themselves away, break themselves apart piece by piece to fulfill a goal. Because the needs of the many...well, you know the rest.
My point? Don't be a hero. Heroes don't get things done. Heroes play boardgames and wait around for their next opportunity to shine in the spotlight. They gather their praise and disappear again.
[In all of that, Eggman never once answered if what he does will make him happy. Because he knows it won't. Happiness is ephemeral. When he triumphs— and he will triumph— the satisfaction will be a brief high. Then, it's on to the next ambition. There must always be something bigger. Greater. Because there is a void in his heart that he struggles to fill with forced acknowledgement. And when his enemies aren't there to acknowledge him...]
[Well...it's easy to make enemies.]
Be better, Surge. I can show you how.
1/2 | [VIDEO]
[ she exclaims, because surge has made sacrifices, she has given up so much unwillingly. even being who she is now is a sacrifice that was done against her will, but it was still her sacrifice. her brows furrow, blue eyes watch eggman with a bit of uncertainty as she listens to him.
when it comes to surge, she has only so much left, and only gains more once sonic is dead. her mind has already dwindled, she loses it every so often of the horrors and the stress of loss and the pain. she's giving it away even now listening to this nonsense that somewhat makes sense. even with her body altered, she breaks herself down over and over, risking her life and after everything to move towards her goal, if deconstructed to reach the end, who will rebuild her? ]
I'd give up everythin' just to see that blue hedgehog stripped of everything I ever had.
[ yeah, she'll say that shit aloud because no matter what, she cannot stand how he lives without consequences. how he chooses to rebuild and wait for the same threat over and over and over again to obtain praise from the masses where real heroes have to give up pieces of themselves. what has sonic lost during his whole time? it makes her feel pathetic knowing she wasn't able to get the final blow because if she could just...
she looks at her hands, fingers curling like she wouldn't mind choking him until his final breath. despite everything, he toys with her.
it's coming down to having nothing and then when she has nothing to give is that where she runs into a dead end of being a hero? that wall that'll be in her way she's unable to overcome because she gave up everything for that same little game of saving and waiting. ]
And what the hell is supposed to be better than a hero!? What am I supposed to do to even amount to what I'm supposed to be!?
2/2 [VIDEO] my turn to see eggman cook...
[ somewhere in the background, there's a rustling, and kit comes into view of the camera. he glances between the shellphone and surge, before his attention finally settles on eggman on the other side of the call. ]
I told you to leave Surge alone! [ and to surge: ] Don't listen to him, Surge.
[ instead, he'll reach over and take the phone from her hand, dropping it face-down on the ground so that he can wrap his arms around her in a hug. it stings. it burns. but does it burn for her, too? at the realization, kit jumps back. ]
A-are you okay? Don't worry. I'll get rid of him.
[ maybe hugs... aren't the best solution he has on his arsenal, and there's an anger that bubbles in the pit of his stomach at whoever has done this to the two of them. now, though? now there's someone else kit is mad at here too—he may not have done the brands, but he's the reason surge is upset in the first place, and kit snatches the phone up from the floor, giving surge her space and scowling at eggman instead. ]

Oh...but that look in your eye...
There's genuine hatred there! Not some shocked-up, loud-mouth tantrum brewing like a summer squall! It's good to know that my former colleague could do one thing right. He was rather adept at fostering resentment.
As to your question, I spoke the truth. She wanted to know what a hero was. I told her heroes were fools. That 'happiness' and 'heroism' are divested of one another because a hero will give and give until there's nothing left. She wants her hero-cake and to eat it too! Oh, but there's nothing better than a blank reality check.

[ it's what he was made to do, after all—surge is all he has... and he can't let anything happen to her. but eggman wouldn't get that, and kit doesn't have a chance to protest further anyway. first, it's starline, then eggman is telling him what he told surge, and now he's raising his voice, and kit is bringing up his hands to try to cover the speakers of the shellphone to muffle the sound.
but he can't silence it completely...
kit's steps pick up the pace—taking him all the way out of espio's room and to the front of the building he's staying in. ]
You don't get it. Being a hero does make Surge happy. She's going to help people, and I'm going to help her. Stay out of our business.

To be a hero, you need a challenge. Something so completely insurmountable that overcoming that is a feat in and of itself! Why do you think everyone loves Sonic? It's because I present to him a challenge. The ultimate challenge! You can't tell me to stay out of your way and expect your precious Surge to rise to such lofty heights all by herself!
You need me.
I am sure she'll be very happy when she attains her goal. In fact...
I believe it would be apt to say I believe she'll rest in peace.

[ he'd never let anything happen to surge. no matter what happens, she has nobody else but him, just like he has nobody else but her. it isn't even that what eggman's saying doesn't make sense—it's a truth that kit realized some time ago now. she needs to overcome something, to prove to everyone that she's a powerful force of good, just like sonic has, and especially once he's gone. eggman is a necessary part of the recipe.
but that doesn't mean anything to kit. to him, eggman is just another stepping stone that surge will take to reach her destination. but as far as eggman is concerned? ]
Why would we need you? You can't do anything for Surge.
[ he's said his intentions himself, and they're not terms and conditions that kit is willing to accept, regardless of what surge needs to do. ]

[If there's one thing Eggman can't stand, it's someone telling him that he can't do something. That he lacks the ability.]
No one understands Sonic the Hedgehog the way that I do. I've fought him for years. Before either of you were even an idea in Starline's addled brain.
But by all means, keep throwing yourself at that wall.
