Which would mean more if we could actually take you out there someday.
You'd really rat me out? I'm wounded.
no subject
let's play pretend
say we could. say i could take a trip with you. where would you take us?
no subject
Hm... if it's pretending... then...
The Wards - on the Citadel - for starters. Picture a city hundreds of times the size of one of these Leviathans. But it's floating in space. Every species from every race is there. The Presidium is where the rich and the political types stay, but the Wards?
No one would blink at you there.

ideally nothing like a mind-flayer's spaceship. nothing at all. )
tell me more about the wards
how's it compare to the cities here?
get into plenty of trouble there yourself?
no subject
[Or illegal, in the lowest of the Wards...]
Oh yeah. Technically I was supposed to be preventing the trouble, but... you know how it is.
no subject
do any vines grow up them?
wait, is there like nature on the spaceships?
no subject
There's public gardens in a few places in the Wards. Planters and things here and there. Most of it's on the Presidium, though. Where the politicians and wealthy people are.
no subject
you like it that way?
or do you like the greenery we have here?
no subject
Where I grew up, though... it was more tropical. More like here. But I've always been more comfortable in cities, personally.
no subject
( she laughs at that. there's nothing surprising about this knowledge. )
tell me about where you grew up

[He doesn't answer for a bit. Cipertine - it was a smoldering ruin by now. Just a big smear of orange on the planet. Almost hard to remember it being anything else.]
Warm and tropical. Near the ocean, even if we don't swim, I waded around a lot as a kid. It was always warm, too. Never even saw snow until I went off-planet. You'd... probably have liked the plant life there.
no subject
but between you and me
i like just about any weather after knowing what it's like not to have it
wait
you don't swim?
no subject
There's no weather where you're from?
No, I don't. I can't - none of my people can. We just sink.
private;
not where i'm from
but where i was
was trapped down in the hells for years. dark clouds blot out the sky there. boiling red rivers. nothing but dust and rock. the only things that ever rained from the sky were arrows, fire, or acid.
makes you appreciate getting to breathe the fresh, clean air! and feel the sunshine on your face!

[It's...]
Damn
That's. Damn. I keep trying to think of a better word for it than that, and coming up empty. You're a hell of a person to get through something like that.
And now I really want to show you Palaven. Like it was when I was growing up.
