[Hiro is tinkering away in his dedicated space to work and research, Baymax observing nearby and apparently attempting to help clean up a little. The teen speaks as he works on something or other, notes next to him.]

I was thinking.....I know others here are also...uh, I guess, inventors? We should help out, work together? I know there've been times when we've needed to like, dive and go underwater, right? I've been thinking if I can come up with something to help with that? It's just a matter of coming up with ideas. What might work? Diving is fine, but even that only gets you down so far. And you'd have limited oxygen with the tanks....Maybe some sort of machine you can go in? It'd have to be tested and stuff. Make sure it's safe. That it could handle the pressure.....I dunno. If anyone has any suggestions, ideas? I've dealt with making suits for other stuff, but not so much the water. That kind of makes things a bit more complicated. Maybe something like a drone for underwater? So we can look around to be sure of whatever we might find, and then go down after.....?

[He ends up more sort of spouting off ideas to himself more than anything, and Baymax glances over at the teen, telling him that he should go and take a break. Get some rest and something to eat. Hiro does have a tendency to get rather distracted and focused on his plans, his work, and ignoring anything else.]

Okay, okay, bud. I'm coming. Um, yeah, let me know what you guys think?

[Hiro says before giving a wave and ending the video so Baymax will stop telling him to take a break.]

[Sent a few minutes later, and the audio may also vaguely pick up that he is sipping at something because Baymax made him get some food that is not gummy bears and something to drink.]

Wait, what? I mean. I wouldn't say no to pay. I just didn't think about that. I just....want to help. Making stuff, tech, robots, that's my thing.

[Hiro will never say no to money. He just hadn't thought about it in this case. Because he is just wanting to help out. Since he knows everyone is figuring what happened with Elah and everything.]

Do you think it'd be possible to build an underwater base? That would be under pressure too, so we wouldn't have to worry as much about depresurizing.

(Just do it once at the end of the expedition.)

i do see what you mean. it'd just be a matter of i guess, assembling as much as we can up here first? then making sure we'd have enough oxygen tanks or whatever we'd use to make it down there and back up at least the once. a whole base would be pretty big, though. we'd need the space to build it?

...Yeah. It may not be feasible to do for a temporary base even if it's doable with current technology.

A decompression chamber might be possible, though it's still a lot.

yeah. the pressure, the decompression will definitely be important. i'm not so used to having to account for that. my bots haven't been used for underwater adventures, just fighting.

You'll probably want to reduce any empty or hollow spaces, use liquids lighter than water instead of air for buoyancy.

The people are a bigger problem, though. Pressure affects ...basically everything with how people work.

[ Emet-Selch has had a while to consider the feasibility of underwater exploration. He looks a little tired at the moment. A small axolotl is clinging to the front of his shirt chewing on what looks like a strip of meat. ]

With the level of technology in this world, a remote-controlled device would have more success exploring the depths of the ocean than a manned craft. Metal ore is not so commonplace here so 'tis not a resource we can afford to waste.

Yeah, that's what I meant with the drone idea. Or, something like that at least. Making and sending one of those down first, to check things out? It'd just be a matter of figuring out how to waterproof it. And make sure it wouldn't get destroyed with that pressure....?

[Hiro, not everyone just immediately understands what you mean when you mention drones. But still, the other seems to get the idea already. More or less. It's fine. He's been moved to his bedroom, where he's sipping from a drink and having a sandwich to placate Baymax's concerns about him taking a break.]

Indeed. However, 'tis not only the drone itself you have to make. If you wish to see what's below, you will need to build a camera and a screen to display the transmitted image.

Fortunately for you, I already developed a rudimentary version of that for another not a few moons ago. All it needs is refinement in both size and utility.

Yeah, I know that. I was obviously figuring to inclu -- ah? You did? It's just mostly been a pain for me with trying to adapt to the magitech here. But if you have already made something like that, then it should be quicker. That's great.

[Maybe not new? Still, Hiro is glad that the other seems to be willing to help out and has some understanding of what Hiro intends with this idea. Not everyone around here seems to be on the same level of experience as far as technology goes.]

I should warn you that it is terribly rudimentary. I would have liked, hmm... Perhaps a decade to properly nurture the requisite technologies or research alternatives to achieve a more satisfactory result.

But many hands make light work, as they say. I, too, am learning to adapt the magitech of my world to this more rudimentary land.

I wouldn't call myself an inventor, per-say, but as a mage, I have been experimenting with whether or not a potion can be crafted that can be taken to help deal with the issues of atmospheric pressure on one's body or the like...

However, I think your idea of a drone to send down first in order to get a better look at what's actually down there might be the more practical and safer option than sending anyone else down there first, regardless of whether or not the issue of pressure and oxygen has been addressed.

[Although, as a mer, Azul can in fact just... go down there himself and see what's up, but he would really rather not.]

[Hiro tilts his head at that, curious as he considers the idea of a potion while sipping at his drink. He's not as versed in magic. He's been messing with magitech some, obviously. But it's still not his expertise with the magic aspect.]

A potion? Huh. But ah, yeah. I figure the drone will at least give us a look? Try kinda narrow things down a bit more? Give us an idea of what's down there so we can hopefully prepare?

My guess? The deeper you dive, the darker it is going to get, so you'll want to make sure that your little drone is capable of seeing or at least registering movement, depending on which sea creatures are residing in that area.

And especially, being prepared for the ones in particular that may not appreciate any bright lights suddenly appearing in their domain.

Yeah. A light would help. Maybe something like thermal imaging? Or night vision?

[He's aware that back home, there would be the likes of sharks and things down underwater. So he's already considering that they'd want to protect the drone if possible.]

Wouldn't want a shark or something to get at it, yeah. I was debating on maybe disguising it somehow? That'd be more work, though. And I figure the sooner we can check things out, the better.

Depending on just how deep down your drone is able to go, a shark may be the least of your problems, honestly.

[There are a lot scarier looking deep sea fish down there in the depths that can make sharks seem cuter by comparison...]

You don't have to make anything that complicated. I mean. Even Baymax, who wasn't just Tadashi. He worked alongside medical professionals and staff to get all the information he'd need for Baymax's programming. That took forever.

[Well. Forever to a fourteen-year-old. Details.]

Besides, the more of us helping, the more likely we are to figure something out that can help, right?

[Somewhere, in the back of his mind, he can hear Father telling him to stop being closed off and talk to other people. Even after being here for so long, it still seemed like a difficult task...]

...I do have experience with diving and with my vision, I can hold my breath for longer periods of time. I never need to build an oxygen tank but I could give it a try.
