Aight, so me and Checkers are trying to make a skate park over at Hero's Rest and we gonna need some help.

[Beat moves aside to show off the State of the Skate Park. It is obvious that it needs quite a bit of Help. He stands in what looks to be the middle of a repurposed amphitheater. The only things that have been set up is a ramp and a grind rail from the stairs that are already part of the original architecture.]

It ain't much right now, but we got a lotta plans.

[Setting aside the shellphone, he rummages through his sketchbook, eventually flipping to a page with said plans. He holds it up to reveal a very rough drawing of his and Roxas' dream skate park for all to see.]

We thinkin' 'bout puttin' up a half-pipe somewhere 'round here— [He starts moving around, pointing out to a space each time. Boy, does he look excited about it, grinning from ear to ear. Very much like a kid in a candy store.] —coupla pyramids somewhere in the middle, an' a buncha rails and ramps all 'round. Yo, Checkers! Am I missin' anythin'?

[Roxas can be seen in the background, cleaning up part of the amphitheater that they hadn't gotten to. He turns to Beat.]

Maybe a bowl somewhere?

Nah, you's right. Gotta add that to the plan. [Then Beat turns back to the shellphone.] That too. Anyways, it's gonna be a lotta work, so if can help us out, we gonna owe you big time, yo! Jus' name your price!

[ooc: Beat is red and Roxas is blue. Either one of them or both will be answering replies!]

[The robed man on the screen looks confused. Very confused. His brows furrow, nose squinching as he attempts to imagine such a facility.]

Is not... water essential for skates? Or did someone create a flying skate? Are there flying skates now?

[And, similarly, Beat looks back with a similar confused expression on his face.]

Hold up. Why'd you even need water for skating, yo?

[beshackled]

I remember skates being aquatic in nature.

[He inclines his head to one side, curious.]

What are your skates like?

[stillarhino]

[Since when???]

They's flat an' got wheels so we can get on them an' do tricks.

[This is definitely the first time he's heard about skates being in water.]

You sure you ain't talkin' 'bout wakeboardin' or somethin'?

[beshackled]

I... suppose one might entertain another to ride upon its back as one might utilize a board. Skates are certainly flat enough.

I don't think we've put wheels on living creatures though.

[He pauses.]

Not yet.

[And another, quieter murmur.]

I wonder how that would work... it would be difficult to accomplish such a feat with connective tissues. Mayhap something like how the hippokampos manages with a detachable head...?

[If he was confused earlier, his expression has moved on to shock instead, eye wide and brows high on his forehead.]

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold up, yo! Who said anythin' 'bout it bein' alive?!

[beshackled]

Not alive?

[He lifts his head, glancing up to see the boy's expression on the screen.

There is... definitely a miscommunication of some sort occurring here. Hmn.]

Ah. Apologies.

To clarify, the skates I am familiar with are aquatic living beings. A type of ray. They are broad enough that one might feasibly ride them, and their shape would be very suitable for flight were we to create one with such an ability.

And I think they might enjoy this half-pipe of yours.

[He blinks once... twice, then starts shaking his head.]

We ain't even talkin' about the same kinda skatin', man! We's talkin' 'bout skateboarding! [To which he proceeds to grab his skateboard to show on screen.] On one a' these. Not some fish.

Oh! A mechanical apparatus. The wheels make sense now.

So, you ride upon these wheeled boards and use them to navigate obstacles with feats of dexterity?

[stillarhino]

[Huh, this guy sure talks like someone he knows back home. Thankfully, he's used to hearing her speak similarly that he's able to pick up most of what's being said.]

Now you gettin' it, yo! Tha's why we makin' the park.

[beshackled]

'Twould be interesting to see the end result. 'Tis not an activity I have ever heard of before.

[Though that, by now, is obvious, given the extent of his prior confusion.]

Between you an' me, I'm hopin' we get it done 'fore the year's up. Been itchin' to go skatin' in our own backyard, you know?

[Not that he doesn't already do that with what they have. But just the idea of having more excites him.]

[A lack of creation magicks means he can't be of much help, and this sort of engineering feat really isn't in his background besides. And yet...]

What manner of materials will you need? I may not have the expertise in that sort of craft, but I could record locations suitable for gathering those materials as I encounter them.

Not for skateboarding.

I don't know about flying skates.

Ah. 'Tis good to see you again.

And... well. We've created flying fish and sharks. 'Twould be easy to create a flying skate, I think, were we able to use our creation magicks here.

[He's very much talking about an entirely different sort of skate here. This man was not raised around other children and does not know much about playing at all. What is skateboarding if not riding atop the back of a skate as one would any mount?]

But I gather you speak of a different sort of skate than the one I know of.

Oh, yeah! Hi.

[But yes, the things Erichthonios are saying are very confusing to Roxas.

He holds up his skateboard.]

We were talking about Skateboarding.

What are you talking about?

[Actually seeing the skateboard does wonders to clear up the confusion. It is very much a board. Why it is called a skate board, he has yet to figure out, but mayhap that is not so important as the children having fun with it.]

Our people are creators, and that which we create include flora and fauna of various types. Some of these we use as mounts to ride upon, and a number of these we have created with the ability to fly.

That said, our creations have personalities of their own. There is a little pegasos in Anagnorisis that loves to frolic, for example.

I thought for a moment that you might have been making a park for your creations to enjoy.

Huh.

[There's a lot that is going a little bit over Roxas's head but he sort of gets it.]

But, no, we're not. I don't even think I have that kind of ability.

But we are making a park for us to enjoy!

[beshackled]

A fine endeavor.

[It may come to no surprise that a member of a creator species enjoys seeing little ones go about finding ways to create things.]

I shall be glad to see your work when it is completed.

We still got a bit a of a ways before then. But, it's gonna be pretty cool once it's done.

Don't suppose you know anything about construction?

'Twas not the focus of my studies, I fear. And with our creation magicks sealed, 'tis almost a certainty all will have to be done by hand.

[A pity, really. But mayhap this will give them something to work towards. Something that doesn't involve confronting man-eating ambystomae or bipedal sharks with bad temperaments.]

Well, pretty sure that's what we're doing. Like, building it all by hand, so you're in the boat. I guess.

[Really they're just looking for help.]

'Twould appear I am.

[Would that he knew more about the procedures of craftsmanship by hand. Cooking is something he picked up by partial necessity, but other forms of craft were less important for him to learn to do on his own. And much of his society relied upon creation magicks for a great many things. He's very much a fish out of water here. And not even one of the ones they created to fly.]

I know not what I can offer, other than identifying the locations of needed materials in the wild. I can identify things well enough. Aside from that...

[He looks skyward, thinking upon the matter a little more.]

It may be possible to utilize teleportation magicks. I would first wish to assess the extent of their viability in this place, since I've noticed they can be... temperamental even with the tattoos. Mayhap if we were able to set up an aetheryte...

Ah. But since we can't create it, we would need to find raw materials that would suffice. I wonder if they exist here...

[Roxas's eyes widen. Admittedly a lot of that is going over his head. But. Teleportation. That could be cool.]

You really think we could teleport?

[beshackled]

We were teleported here, weren't we? And our things were separated from us and teleported elsewhere. Though I know not the means by which this was accomplished as my own teleportation magicks have been less than entirely dependable, surely this alone means it isn't impossible.

[Mayhap this could be his contribution to the body of research. It bears investigating, at the very least.]
