Warnings: The worst book club ever, talk of eldritch horrors, potential poking at the 4th wall for Sherlock

I made the purchase of ‘Encyclopedia Necronomica’ earlier but had not the opportunity to make a study of it until now. Having done so, I must ask: who is familiar with the entity pictured here? What do you know?

I shall include photographs from the book and of my sketches in reference to imagery related to my world.

Furthermore, if anyone else wishes to reference or compare this book with entities encountered recently, I am at your disposal.

[ Sherlock had some sense of mind to not study this particular book while feverish and ill. He should be praised for that, honestly, because he spotted something frightening familiar when he finally did.

Wait a minute, when did Arthur Conan Doyle write about Holmes going up against Cthulhu? ]

[Excellent bullet you just dodged there Sherlock, by not saying it was the latter reason. Azul might have actually gotten offended on Cthulu's behalf otherwise...]

I see. Though, I suppose that makes it harder to figure out how to approach and deal with them, if they are a being that cannot be properly observed with one's eyes without a serious risk of harm.

[ He knows how appearances can mask someone's true nature. The strongest examples of that are people who appear trustworthy, even kind, but end up causing the most harm. Why shouldn't the reverse be true?

But that is a different matter altogether. ]

We can at least watch for signs of anyone trying to summon or awaken a sleeping god. We may see the horror his followers wrought in the process and worship, but it could stop a worse fate from befalling the world.

In that case, what signs would those be? Should I just be looking for images like these cropping up somewhere, or is there anything else that I should be aware of that these followers might be saying or doing that would signify that they are attempting to summon this being?

I would say mass abductions or missing people from many different backgrounds and nations could point to a preparation for the ritual. I do not know if that was a purposeful requirement or an attempt to mask the disappearances. I suspect the former. Those people would be brainwashed to repeat the same phrase over and over.

Blood sacrifices, hanging people from a frames around a bonfire, and piles of skulls were present, but I fear that is all too common with other cults to be of any use for identifying it as the same cult. The final sacrifices happened atop a lighthouse with special glass lenses to entrance the brainwashed. They jumped into the ocean to their deaths below, so a large gathering at a lighthouse, especially during a great storm, is suspicious.

But thank you, this has all been very informative. I will keep all of this in mind and will promptly let you know if I come across any signs of something like this occurring again.

Believe me when I say that I sincerely hope that we find no such evidence and we have not to concern ourselves with this god.
