Many people come here looking for a way back to their world and I cannot blame them. The idea of mysterious rifts controlling when we come and go... it's more than one can take. Should take, even.
But if it's not asking too much, I'd like to seek out a differing opinion:
If you had the choice to leave this place, would you stay instead? Why?

Suppose my answer is twofold then. I've made my city something of a project. It's corrupt. Leadership has always been skewed towards mages and those with mage lineage. The rest get swept under the rug. Go missing. End up dead or worse. Made it my job to help those who wouldn't find help from anyone else. I've a job back home that has to be finished.

If all strings were cut and none of that mattered... might be tempted to return for a few people, but being here hasn't been any worse than Minrathous. If I ended up with a reputation here, I might want to stay for that.
