[There's a picture of six moogles standing outside of a little moogle-sized cottage on Hero's Rest. Five of the moogles are regular sized moogles, though one has a pompom that is at a rather concerning angle. In front is a smaller moogle which has been circled in red.]
We got attacked by those tentacles on the island and can't find one of our moogles in the aftermath. His name is Mogwyn and I'm kinda worried about him. Has anyone seen him?

But it makes me worried.
text -> video
[While she's walking out into the Roost itself, she's fiddled with her shellphone to give Roxas a video call. Ring ring! Once he's answered, he'll get a good look at where Mid is, but she's flipped the camera so he can see the area too.]
That work? If you see somethin' while I walk around, I can check it out for ye!
no subject
[He's a bit surprised, so it takes a brief moment to wrap his head around the idea and what he's seeing.]
Oh, uh, sure! Though, wouldn't you see it to?
no subject
[She's mainly looking in different places where a moogle pom may be hiding, panning the camera slowly here. ]
If you see somethin' while I'm lookin' somewhere else, just 'oller and I'll look closer for you!
[So far she sees nothing out of the ordinary where she is, but maybe he'll see something?]
no subject
[And his brow starts to furrow as he scrutinizes the screen, looking for anything out of the ordinary or that might belong to a moogle.]
Is there something in that pile over there?
un: soundsurfer
i can go hunting for him somewhere else if we scoped the whole place out already

But there's still a lot of island, and like forest and and stuff.
Guess we might want to start there
no subject
got a whole lotta forest to cover
no subject
But that makes sense, so I'll be right there!
text > action
[Immediately Beat makes his way towards the forest. He waits for Roxas by the forest edge, close to a beaten path that cuts into the woods. When he finally sees the other boy, he waves at him.]
Yo, Checkers! Over here.
no subject
Beat! Seen anything yet?
no subject
Naw. Been keepin' an eye out but ain't seen nothin' yet.
[While he doesn't hang out with the moogles that much, he's still worried about Mogwyn's whereabouts.]
D'you think he's still on the island?
no subject
I mean, I hope so? But with the rifts, who knows really?
When I fell into them, I ended up in a bunch of places. I'm really hoping that's not the case for him.
no subject
[This is his, what, third world now? Not counting how his one reality has two sides of it back home. So he understands a lot more than one might think. Beat wants to find the lost moogle, especially considering he feels beholden to them... since Steven's accident a while back.]
C'mon, I ain't heard or seen anythin' 'round the edge so I'm thinkin' we check inside.
[He starts heading into the brush, following the path until they're able to make it a little deeper.]
no subject
[Roxas looks a little concerned about the Woods. Not because he's afraid, mind. He's used to going into dangerous situations.
But it is a lot of Woods.]
Might be the best way to go. Hopefully he's just hiding in a log or something.
no subject
[Well, that was one way to look for the moogle. And to announce their presence to everything out in the woods. Unfortunately, besides the sound of other woodland critters (there weren't scared away by Beat's loud shouting), they're met with silence.]
Figured it was worth a shot.
What's Mogwyn like anyway? They like some kinda food or somethin'?
[He's not close enough to the moogles, but he figures if they know more, maybe the can use those to bring them out of hiding.]
no subject
Yeah, worth a shot.
He's uh...small, but determined. Always trying to prove himself. I think he's a little bit younger than the others.
But I think he likes the same kinda foods as the other moogles. So I guess it's just, what kinda food do moogles like?
no subject
Can respect 'im for that. Probably tryin' to figure out his own thing, you know?
[Beat rifles through his pockets for something that might help, pulling out a bag of rice cracker snack mix.]
Dunno what they eat, but you think this'll help? Only got this and a coupla riceballs on me.
[Always count on Beat to have food on him, just in case.]
no subject
[If it was a test to prove himself, there's better ways to do it. Or so Roxas thinks anyway.]
But, I mean, we could give it a shot? If he's hungry, he might just eat anything.
no subject
[No one could've seen the tentacles coming. They didn't expect and Beat imagines neither did the moogles. But for now, he rips up the packet, scattering a small handful on the ground.]
Kinda like that storybook. If he follows this, it's gonna lead right to us.
no subject
[There's other stuff what lives on the island after all.]
no subject
[Just as he puts down another pile of food a few feet away, there is a rustling off to their side by a nearby bush.]
Hold up. You hear that?
no subject
He is immediately alert at the rustling and he can feel the familiar tingle in his fingers to summon his keyblade.]
Yeah. I do. Think we should be ready for anything?
no subject
Ain't you the one who said there's other stuff out there?
[There's another shuffle of greenery as Beat steps back, making space if something were to attack them. After another rustle, a creature hops into the space... only for it to be a tiny brown rabbit. Its nose wiggles as it smells the food on the ground, shaking off some snow off its back as it looks at the two boys.]
Huh, that's it?
no subject
Guess we were worried for nothing, huh?
no subject
[Famous last words.
As soon as the words leave Beat's mouth, the rabbit hops towards the food only to be snatched up by a large furry claw emerging from behind the brush. A loud squeak is heard before it is immediately silenced and overtaken by the rustling of branches and bushes.]
Aight, now we gotta be worried for real.
[Beat holds his ground, moving into a stance in case something else pops out.]
no subject
Roxas's keyblades appear in his hands in a flash and he swings them up, ready to charge in. Especially as a loud snarl echoes out as a large beast stalks out towards them. And it's more than a little concerning that something like this is on their island.]
Looks like it.
[And Roxas rushes forward.]
no subject
While Beat had found Bear Noise in the past, this was the first time he'd even come face to face with a real live one. It leaves him stunned for a brief moment, breaking out of his stupor when he sees it raise a claw to slash at Roxas.]
Checkers, look out!
[He runs toward his friend but he's not sure he would make it in time to knock him out of the way.]
no subject
THough it's not quite the effective blow he wanted it to be, the slash being heavier than he thought.]
no subject
It's tougher than it looks, yo!
[There's a small room of time to breathe, but the bear still stands tall.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the brush, a tiny, red ball pops up from the greenery. It makes its way towards the clearing, not being the stealthiest as it does so.]
no subject
[It's worrisome. That there was something like this on their island that they didn't know about. Maybe they need to do some more exploration. But he can't think about that now.
He shoves the claw off and jumps back, following up with a Firaga.]
no subject
I dunno 'bout you, but looks real mad.
[Beat readies himself to go in with another attack, but before he could, a small moogle appears from the treeline. He holds a long stick standing in the middle of the clearing.]
Holy crap! Mogwyn? Izzat you?
[He brandishes the stick towards the bear in a flourish, standing between it and the two boys.]
no subject
[Roxas was hoping to do a little more than just make it mad. He's about to raise his keyblade to use a Strike Raid when Mogwyn makes his appearance.
The Moogle looks back with a nod before turning back to the bear.]
W-wait!
no subject
But before it even connects, Beat moves fast, almost appearing as a blur as he throws himself towards Mogwyn. Tucking him in his arms, he rolls out of the way before the bear's own attack could connect. Dust kicks up from where Beat and Mogwyn rolls, only a few scratches on them.]
Checkers! We gotta get outta here.
[Beat doesn't want to run but protecting the moogle is the top priority now.]
no subject
[Roxas moves to be in between Beat and the Bear, to buy some time for escape. He knows he should probably run to, but there's a reluctance there. He doesn't like leaving things unfinished.]
Go, I'll catch up!
no subject
[Unfortunately for Roxas, Beat's the same way. Sure, he can run but that won't sot right with him, especially not when it meant leaving his friend behind. He adjusts Mogwyn in his hands, making sure the moogle is secured in case they need to make a quick escape.]
Yo, we ain't leavin' you to deal with that, man.
no subject
I'll be right behind you!
[He wants to get at least one good hit in, to really knock it back. So it won't chase them.]
no subject
You better be right behind us, Checkers!
[It looks like he wants to say more but instead he turns and starts making his way back where they had come, ready to turn back in he needed to.]
no subject
[And he does mean it. But this isn't going to be an easy fight and there might be a few loud explosion sounds behind beat as Roxas fires off a few rounds of magic. He just needs to hold it off for a little longer.
Eventually there's a large crash as Roxas throws everything he's got at the beast and brings a few trees down for good measure so he can escape. And he'll eventually make it back to the forest's edge. Only bleeding slightly. The Bear got lucky.]
no subject
No way, yo. We got ya outta there already. Checkers is gonna be okay.
[He wishes he could believe himself too.
However, it's not a moment too soon when he sees a shock of blond hair break through the trees. He's at Roxas' side in an instant, holding the other boy up, ready to offer a shoulder if he needs it.]
Easy, yo. Easy. I gotcha.
