[There was a soft melody playing in the background, along with the sound of paws pattering about. Some heavier steps. The music clearly from a music box that sounded as if it was sat somewhere closer to the shellphone—]
This is Professor Turo, and my apologies for perhaps a late statement that I may not be so easily found as usual the last several days; a few days more as well. Less time spent walking Cosmo, other places.
Of course I can still be reached over these, but I have been taking some time to myself. Finishing up a few projects, making room for others that are more in progress. Preparation for possible adoption candidates at Cosmo Conservatory -next month may do well for that- so I can be found within the medical building there once more at the very least.
[—that melody hanging in the air for a few notes. It at least helped to soothe...]
If anything is needed do not hesitate to contact me, but I bid you adieu for now.

You are always welcome to come to the Cafe to work, if you need a change of scenery, Professor.
[A beat.]
And if you'd be interested, I'd been making notes on a...few projects from back home that might interest you.
[Enrichment. Enrichment for Turo. That's the ticket.]
voice; un: fractales
A change of scenery may be best, given habits I've observed... I could be inclined to ones not so good for me.
[Buried deep in some hole in the ground instead of... living life in the moment, not processing the loss.]
I would be, yes. I have run into something of a—... I wouldn't say dead end, but it would require an expedition not yet prepared for with what I've been looking further into. [Music box still going.]
no subject
[So Kaveh can lowkey be worried about him unobtrusively.]
Well, this is a bit of a different project...I admit to not being sure what it could do in this world, but it has to do with energy conversion and reabsorption, and if nothing else I thought you might find the notes interesting.
no subject
[Doing her 'job' as it were, a physical thing of comfort and more.
Still, Turo's was keeping himself even toned; the entire reason it took him several days to say anything was to ensure he could do that much.]
That is something I've been working on, for my own uses and more. I could share what I've managed here in turn if wanted.

...Hey. If there's ever anythin' you need to to talk about I'm always around. Or--or if you need help with anything. Your projects or Cosmo or the like.
Private Voice
I may need some help with the adoption candidates I mentioned, if you have time; we have their mother here, but she isn't able to feed all of them at the same time well now that they're a bit bigger.
... and talking may be needed, even if I know I'm not good at it.
no subject
[ A little pause. ]
I don't think you have to be... good at it. It just helps to try sometimes.
no subject
[There was- well, the laugh didn't have much joy. It was just, tired in a way.]
My creator refused to talk to anyone, and instead buried himself in his work, deep in a hole in the ground. I do not... have the best example set before me.
no subject
[ Concerning!]
That doesn't sound like it'd help anything, no. Want me to uh... meet you at Cosmo?
no subject
[Extremely.]
No, it doesn't—and it didn't, even if I came of it in the beginning. If you have the time, I'm currently in the medical building.

[ Living on Eltrut these days means he can just walk, and it won't take him terribly long. He does his best not to be too visibly worried when he shows up. ]
action!
Made the far more visible 'gray' streaks of sparkling hair within the normal brown just a little more apparent; was peppered in his beard as well.
But it was what was in his lap that was the adoption candidates in question; a few young pengi 'pups', their larger mother resting nearby, and it clear she was missing a leg—wrapped as if that was recent.]
Come in and sit down, there's space just here.
no subject
Faulkner, meanwhile, heads straight over to sit down, though he looks over the new little cat and the new... dogs? birds? as he does. ]
Hey, professor. These are uh, some cute little things.
[ Whatever they are exactly. ]
no subject
As far as Stardust was concerned, she was helping.]
Pengi pups. Apparently they are kept on fishing vessels, especially the smaller ones, as they help 'herd' fish into nets and try to keep larger things from getting tangled. Their mother was dumped here a few months ago, but she's healing from what was likely the 'reason' for that—poor as it was.
She'll likely be remaining here. [At least she looked comfortable.]
no subject
[ Even if he is trying to get more and more comfortable with the water, if only out of determination and spite. ]
But I'm glad she's healin' alright, an' I'm glad if the pups are doin' well.
[ He stays where he's sitting, but reaches a hand out to let the mother sniff him if she wants to. It seems like that might be a good a idea before messing with the pups themselves. ]
no subject
[He was still trying to figure out how exactly the injury had gotten a front leg so damaged it was better for the pengi to remove it than try and save it. Injured and carrying... Better off here, either way.
Of course there was that odd sort of sound that was a mix of a penguin and dog, tail wagging away from the mother.
Turo was moving a couple of bottles up from a warmer bag he'd thrown together.]
She is looking far better, and from what I can tell the pups are healthy.
[And would be waking up soon, since it was definitely one of their meal times.]
no subject
That's good. How long do you think they're goin' to need the bottles?
[ He doesn't mind helping either way, he's mostly just curious. He's not entirely sure what's normal for dogs let alone these. ]
no subject
Just a few weeks more, then they'll be weening. The reason two need hand feeding is due to the bandaging for their mother. It's easier than having to unwrap her healing injuries whenever its time for them to eat.
[Covered the upper torso due to a few other injuries, which mean only four pengi pups could feed easily.]
no subject
Yeah, I can see why that might not be too pleasant for her.
[ He'll give the animal another little scratch before taking his hand back for the moment. He still wants to know what's wrong, but he'll give Turo a little bit of time to see if he brings that up on his own. ]
no subject
[He offered one of the bottles to Faulkner, it warm and the liquid inside a little bit thicker than some may expect for milk.]
Take this and I'll show you how to hold one of the pups.
[They were already squirming awake, wiggling a little, to find some purchase on his pants and labcoat to get moving.]
no subject
Alright. Is there a special way...?
[ Even for all he's learned about animals since being here, he's still no expert. ]
no subject
[He did have to keep two of the pups from wiggling out of his lap, four others getting their way down to go to their mother. Getting a little grooming of course—]
You want to keep the bottle angled just enough that it isn't straight up so the pup can't drink down too much too quickly. Its easy for them to inhale as they drink, as with others. This young especially. [Even as he spoke, Turo was helping one of the two kept back -after a moment of letting their mother lean enough to do a little 'wake up' groom- so that Faulkner could take a wiggly pup.]
Probably easiest to have it propped on a leg, easier control and a free hand incase it wiggles and slips.
[Action]
...Huh. Well, he's not sure what to expect, or if he'll see him at all, but Shadow has made the decision to come by the Conservatory. He needed to check on the wisps anyway. Eventually he'll get around to the familiar medical building. It's vacant of a certain professor though. He'll still wander around the area before calling it though. Whatever he's feeling about this, he's hoping it's really nothing of concern.]

There was the buzzing of bees dipping into blooms and spread pollen within the garden, moving as freely as the variety of colorful butterflies.
Turo was moving carefully, even ducking a few flowering vines hanging from the ceiling of the greenhouse part where various lattices were propped and built up for the running vines to cling to as they grew. His hand lifted up, a much thicker vine moving and lowering down a larger flower that... opened up to show a Snake-like face hidden amongst the petals; its head rested on that hand for support, pollen coated tongue flicking out.]
There you are. Healthy, so many more petals—would you allow me to collect a few more?
I do have some treats for you. [A pleased hiss and, well. Collecting petals would be plucking them, its eyes soon enough focused on Shadow as Turo still gingerly collected the mix of pink and white petals.
Though his voice sounded... static-y.]
no subject
His ears swerve slightly, picking up something was off in his voice. Was the professor due for repairs...? Or is the machine starting to show it's age without a master to properly maintain it? He blinks, feeling eyes on him as his meets the flower snake's. The petals on it shudder slightly.
Well, best make it clear he's not a threat. His steps are still careful, but footstep sounds made clear as he comes up to the basket with the collected petals.] What are these for? [Hi.]
no subject
[The flower petal covered snaked calmed as Turo spoke, clearing his throat briefly as if he knew the static was there before speaking again.]
It took various tests to find that out, and I figure it is far better to have antidote and antivenom stored here than not.
no subject
Are you in need of repairs? [Turo can try to hide it, but it only makes Shadow more suspicious about his behavior.]
no subject
Was almost like grooming.
Of course his hand paused, briefly. Ah—]
Oh, no. Just—you could say that I am simply experiencing overwhelming emotion, and at times they cause some fluctuation to my voice. I have to remove crystal flakes as well, here and there, that have been forming. [They had been taking on tear-like shapes. At the very least his tone implied he was working through it, just... taking time still to do so.]
no subject
Would you like me to assist in some way?
no subject
Turo patted the snake's underside lightly before it was reacting -most of the way- back amongst the terrace plants above.]
Presence can mean much, when the issue partly is a fear of doing as my creator did in such a time. Bury himself in work, obsessed with the idea he could fix it with some great discovery.
no subject
His left ear twitches in thought. Fix something? Something has upset the professor that he would want to distract himself in his work. Change an outcome that sounds like, it cannot be done.
He comes more forward as the snake takes it's leave.] It be foolish of you to try anything reckless in front of me. [His way of saying, he's here.]
no subject
Another reason I appreciate you checking in, truly.
[It did more than Turo had words for in the moment.] You are welcome to stay for what time you can spare, even in silence the company is appreciated.
I am simply going to check on another visitor to the garden- other than the bees and butterflies. Would you like to see them? [Tone implied it wasn't a person, but something that also seemed to help with garden health and growth.]
no subject
no subject
This way then, they've taken up near the flower patches. [Turo had expanded the garden a decent bit, the energy shields that had been tweaked to react like a greenhouse helping with that given they could be snapped into any place or shape.
Amongst the flowers there were a few hopping little bunnies that blended a little into the various patches. Butterflies and bees calmly moving above them as well, as if the hops helped further attract them.]
I came in here a few mornings ago to find one, and a few more have managed their way in. They haven't been nibbling on anything, and where they are seems to have growth thrive.
no subject
He stares. Rabbits? He quietly observes, listening to Turo's explanation. He can see they have flowers on them...it's kind of cute.] Maybe it's a sign your garden is in good health if they're here.
no subject
[—that same rabbit popping out of the flower patches, hopping towards them, stopping as it landed with front paws on Turo's foot, looking up at the both of them.]
... It is also partly due to me wanting to know I am doing well when it comes to this garden. A reassurance, I suppose. [Spoken as he lowered, sitting on his feet so as not to disturb the rabbit there that kept its front paws in place, a hand offered. That little soft furred nose skimming over his palm to sniff, wiggling as they tended to.]
I've made a sort of 'door' in the energy shielding so they can come and go as they please.

[ But unfortunately, there's no real way to "solve" the problem, nothing Sherlock feels he can really do. Not on this matter.
However, there may be a big three-headed dog whining at Turo's door and giving big snuffles as he catches Turo's scent. Basker has his own ideas. ]
Voice
Which means the man can probably hear Basker near as well as Turo, especially when he moves to open the door—]
The offer is very much appreciated, Sherlock. I may have a few plush designs that you could look over, if they may do well in the shop or not.
[—and hello, Basker.]
PRIVATE
[ He doesn't know what happened but he can tell something is wrong. ]
PRIVATE
[Of course only he would know what had belonged to the other, but... that wasn't the point of the request. Turo very much wanted to do the opposite of his creator.]
