[ Grog thinks he's got the hang of this Shellphone thing by now. Keyleth helped him figure it out, probably. So, when he's wandering around Port Hope at the Festival of the Whales, and he starts to get bored of just stuffing his face with as much delicious seafood as he can, he decides to get his Shellphone out and properly introduce himself to the public. ]

Alright. So, this festival's nice an' all, but I could do with a little more action. I say we set up a bit of a contest. A test o' strength, of sorts. If you think you can beat me in a wrestlin' match, come and put it to the test. Anyone who can beat me, I'll give ya...

[ He pauses. He just got here, so he doesn't actually have much to offer by way of prize money. ]

Uh... I'll owe anyone who can beat me a favor, how 'bout that?

[ Yeah. That'll do. Surely no one will take advantage of how open-ended the promise of "a favor" is, right? ]

Come an' give it a shot. I'll be waiting.

Heh. That's the idea.

[ In Grog's mind, it's no fun if there's not a little injury. ]

But there's probably healers around, right? Nobody's gonna die or nothin'.

I'm a doctor! I don't want anyone getting hurt! Especially not just for fun like that!

[There had better not be any injuries that serious that someone would die from it....!! Not that it isn't easy to set the little reindeer off at times. This is just one of them, with how casually Grog talks about such violence.]

[ Grog's threshold for "appropriate levels of injury" is perhaps a bit skewed, considering pretty much all of his friends have died or come close to dying at least once. ]

Well, if yer a doctor, maybe you should come by an' supervise, just to make sure things don't get outta hand!

Meaning you plan for things to get out of hand, jeez. If it isn't Zoro, here it's Darin or Rokurou or now you being reckless....

[Still. He isn't saying he won't. Because a doctor can't just ignore if someone is hurt or sick. As much as he might think it deserved on occasion, depending on the circumstance. Chopper is too much a bleeding heart to actually not show up if there's a chance someone might get hurt from this nonsense.]

Well... 'M not plannin' for it... But things get outta hand sometimes, whether you want 'em to or not...

[ Now he feels bad for upsetting the cute little reindeer guy... ]

Arrrgh, fine! But if yer friend Zoro's here, bring him along, too. He sounds like my kinda guy.

He isn't.

[Which. He's both still glad and upset about. Mostly upset because he misses his Straw Hats crew, But glad in that it means one less big lug to convince that sleep and booze cure everything. It does not, actually.]

But I'm sure you'd be quick friends if he ever does show up.

[ Grog's almost disappointed. It sounded like this Zoro guy would make a good match. ]

Tha's alright. Most o' my friends ain't here, either. But I just showed up, so maybe your friend'll show up sometime, too.

Yeah! Right! I just have to keep an eye out! Though, I'm pretty sure if any of them showed up, it wouldn't take long for me to find them.

[The crew all tend to stand out in their own ways. Some more notably than others, at least in immediate appearance.]

Oh? Your friends all deer-ish like you, then?

[ He's assuming that's one reason they might be easy to pick out of a crowd. After all, he's never seen anyone like this little guy before. ]

Like me? No. No, I'm unique. Because of something I ate back home that helps me talk and all. Some of my friends look a little different, though.

[When you have the likes of Franky around on the crew....yeah. It's kind of hard not to pick him out of a crowd. And Luffy just generally causes chaos wherever he goes. It wouldn't be too difficult, he figures.]

You learned how to talk just from eatin' somethin'?

[ He's heard of magical food before, but even Keyleth's Heroes Feast doesn't grant the gift of speech. ]

Must be some real special food.

It's a special fruit. Sometimes humans find and eat them, too. They're really valuable and rare, apparently. They're called Devil Fruits, and they give us various abilities. But after we eat one, we can't swim.

[Not exactly ideal for a pirate. To say the least.]

That sounds pretty incon... inconbeen... incombini...

[ Ok, nope. Giving up on that word. ]

Sounds like it must suck to be on a boat an not be able to swim.

Inconvenient? Yes. It is. But luckily, others on my crew can swim. So if something does happen and I fall overboard, they can help.

[Don't hurt yourself, Grog! He knows what you were trying to say. He thinks. It's fine! You tried, buddy!]

Is that on your crew here, or back home?

[ Does he have to be worried about a very drownable little deer guy? ]

Both. Garrus can't swim either, here on my crew with Zelda and all. But the rest are fine. There's others back home that can't swim, but there's always some of us that can. I have a little paddling pool I've used on the beach here and when it's been really hot.

[He is used to being mindful around water. But it is true that even here, he has to be careful.]

That's good. It's always good to know you've got folks watchin' yer back.

[ Grog is suddenly becoming intensely aware that the people he usually relies upon to watch his back-- and the people whose backs he pledges himself to watch-- are, for the most part, not here. ]

Of course! Everyone needs someone! Even if I don't have the Straw Hats here, I have other friends I've made! And I'm sure you will, too! Just. Try not to hurt anyone or get too hurt yourself before I get there.

[Please. He has enough work with Darin around as it is. Still, the camera is moving as he shifts, walking along to find the big guy. Probably from a rather low vantage point, but still. He's only toddler sized in this Brain Point form.]
