It's a new year. I guess this does make me wonder. Depending on how long we are here. What this means for birthdays. If I'm here long enough and have a birthday here does that count still or? Cause I'm not sure how that might work here. Being somewhere else and all. Plus, if I had my birthday and Mikleo didn't back home that'd be weird. Being older than him like that, We've always been the same age, both seventeen at the moment. I mean I know seraphim live way longer than humans but still.

And this is when people sometimes have goals or wishes for the year right? Stuff they want to do? I haven't really thought of anything for mine besides seeing new places, exploring this place. Learning more about this place, sailing and helping people.

I dunno. I guess I wasn't sure. I dunno how well time kinda translates I guess to how things are back home. It would just be weird. To be older than Mikleo.

I don't know how it translates either, but I was pretty close to my birthday so once we hit that Halloween season I figured close enough.

I was like two weeks from being seventeen to begin with. I guess for that it depends on how long we plan on being here. I don't mind this place, I'm not exactly in a hurry to rush back.

Oh that was kind of fun. I'm not sure we have something like that back home so much. But dressing up and giving out sweets is neat.

Oh, so the same age as me then. I'm seventeen too.

That was really fun, I got so much candy!

Yeah, it's alright I guess? It's not like I did anything for my birthday it's just now I'm seventeen.

Right? So much.

I can't say in comparing my birthday to what others might do for theirs. I don't know if seraphim might celebrate differently to what humans might do for their birthdays.

What do you usually do for your birthday?

[historiology]

Have some nice food, presents. Pretty much all the seraphim come to gather for it. is that the same for others? I guess it might depend. Different people or cultures might celebrate differently, let alone with different worlds.

[cursedwords]

Yeah, I think that's about right. I don't do anything for mine but most people do that. Have good food, be with their friends and family.

It sounds nice.

[historiology]

Yeah. It was more about celebrating another birthday with people you care about. The presents were nice and usually practical and useful, at least from the seraphim, but that was more a bonus? I think it was more exciting when I was little compared to these days.

[cursedwords]

Yeah I think that sounds nice. Just spending time with people is one of my favourite things to do.

[historiology]

Yeah. It's nice just to have everyone together. It's just sometimes during the day that everyone can be busy day to day that it's not necessarily often everyone takes that time? I guess.

[cursedwords]

Yeah. Hanging out with people was always the best part of my day, even if it's not that long. Even just talking like this is nice.

Guess I spent too much time on my own probably.

Too much time on your own?

Before I went to school, I wasn't able to talk to anyone except online sometimes, in games and stuff.

[historiology]

That's pretty amazing though. That you could play games and talk to people far away. We didn't have that sort of thing back home.

[cursedwords]

Yeah, I guess. I don't know what I would've done if I didn't have the internet. Be very bored.

[historiology]

You would have been very bored back home then? Where I'm from. I don't think even Ladylake and the other places with humans outside of my village had internet.

[cursedwords]

Ugh it sounds terrible. I don't know how my ancestors did it. I guess they just never communicated with people.

[historiology]

They had to communicate, maybe just with different methods. Like writing letters, or seeing each other in person more. Rather than like this?

[cursedwords]

I guess. That or they just didn't know anybody.

[historiology]

I guess traveling would have been harder. Depending on how far back you go. Yeah. So it might be they might not have had as much reason to need to talk to people that far away if they didn't know anyone that far off.

[cursedwords]

Yeah I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have traveled.

[historiology]

I guess I didn't until recently back home. But they were missing out! There's so much out there to see! To learn! To explore! Ruins to discover!

[cursedwords]

It's really exciting. I'm really liking exploring around here.

[historiology]

It is! A whole new world to explore! I know there's probably still a lot back home I haven't traveled and explored yet too but. This is exciting! It'd be better with my friends but. I'm making new ones here. Getting to explore a whole new place.
