[The sounds of the one with the blue eye fiddling with the buttons and grumbling under his breath some light whinging about 'Get in the right angle', before finally fixing the camera issue, showing off the teen in red who, judging from the branches and leaves, is most likely sitting in a tree as he's making this video]

There we go! Where was I... [He gave a soft wave at the camera.] Yo. Name's Ranma Saotome, for anyone I haven't met yet. I dropped in this place a while back and was messing with this phone and noticed this chatlog. I'm not the best with those [Like he hadn't already proved as much], but figured I should drop in and say hi.

[He paused and tapped his fingers against the bark of the tree he's seated on.]

I also wanted to see if there was anyone here who's a fighter who'd be up for a spar. I'm a martial artist, and no one from back home's tried to attack me yet so they're probably not here, but it'd be cool if someone here's willing to go toe to toe with me sometime. Don't want to get too rusty on this kidnapping-slash-vacation.

Anywho, I think that's all I wanted to say. So... See ya– Wait a moment. [He leaned in and squinted his eyes at the screen. Particularly to the sender ID... The boy's look turned from befuddlement to annoyance.] Actually, there is another thing I wanna ask. How do I change the name on this?

[The only reason Douglas' feed isn't as chaotic as Ranma's is because he practiced before turning on video, himself. When you're from the 1870s, this level of tech may as well be magic, too-- as far as he's concerned, Ranma's doing awesome.]

Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Saotome. [The middle aged man on the screen nods in polite acknowledgment.] Cyrus Douglas: I'm a new arrival, myself.

In my own world, I had a light spar with a friend nearly every day, but I haven't gotten any practice while I've been here. If no one has taken you up on the offer yet, I would be interested.

[It says a lot when an old timer from a century go has a better understanding of 'high tech' than he does. It wasn't rocket science or anything, but he's from around the early 1990s, about 1994-ish. The first flip wasn't invented until two years later, let alone a modern cell phone. He's still figuring out things. Reason he didn't just go for text is cause of A. He wanted to be more present for anyone who wanted to see him, and B. Every time he'd type something, it'd just automatically correct to the wrong word. After the last twenty times of hiccups of his name being corrected to 'ramen', he eventually gave up and opted for the camera.

The younger lad nodded his back to the older gentleman.]

Ditto. And sure, if you're up to the challenge. [The downside about these screens is that Ranma can't exactly read people's body to gauge their fighting capabilities, not accurately.] What style do you practice in?

I'm never sure if I'm supposed to welcome people here, considering our circumstances. But welcome none the less.

[There's a small moment where there's sounds of him shuffling things around as he speaks. Just doing some busy work while he talks.]

As for sparring, I wouldn't mind. I agree that keeping in practice with self-defense is important if you're worried about people attacking you? You could describe them as well, and if they're seen they may be picked up preemptively. No one should have to live with the feeling of impending attacks at any moment.

Sweet, I'd be down to anytime you're free. [Since he seemed a little preoccupied at the moment. Though Ranma couldn't help but tilt his head.] I'm not worried about anything like that. Was just saying that the people I fight almost every day aren't here. Sure, it's a free pass from dealing with them and their bullcrap, but after a while it'd get a little dull with no one to fight. Plus I'm a martial artist! It's just how it goes, you know?

[The idea of heading on out right away to spar is actually appealing. But the more pressing thing is knowing that he didn't understand correctly.]

Sorry, I misunderstood. I don't know what it's like to be a martial artist by trade, no. My hand to hand combat isn't my best factor, but I know what I'm doing. Is this something you all do often to train as a martial artist? Is it common to ambush train?

It's cool. And kind of? When I was still growing up, Pop'd ambush me as part of training to try and get me to dodge or counter him. Besides him, a lot of the time, other people ambush me cause they have some problem with me and want to put me in a body cast or grave, or they just want to beat me in a fight to prove a point or something like that.

[Said ever so casual, before turning his own interest to the other teen on the opposite screen.]

What kind of fighting do you do then? Any weapons?

I use temperature to my advantage. I could use work on my hand to hand combat, I'm mainly long range.

I think you should be able to change your user id if you use some of your voucher points for completing quests. [Just like... a real video game.] It was confusing at first for me as well. Especially when I saw some of my classmates usernames.

Voucher points? [An audible sigh and a slump.] There really can't be any free things in the world, can there...?

[All he wanted to change his stupid name on here. Why does the universe hate him so?]

So these things have special nicknames tailored to everyone? That's... discerning that whoever brought us here not only knew to take our strengths or powers at the start, which could only be fixed by magic tattoos they provide, but they also know enough about us to give us usernames based on something about us. A little creepy if you ask me. [Just who goes through all this effort for all this, and why?]

Ah... Todoroki-kun was very suspicious of it too. And somehow the shellphones knew that I use Kacchan's nickname rather than something else. So...

It's either the rifts have a way of reading our minds or someone is good at reading us.

Neither one of those are ideal. Last thing we need is some jackass knowing every little thing about us. I honestly thought at first that the whole magic bottle thing was probably something one of the guys from back home used on me to get me out of the picture. But considering they're not here to gloat about it and that other people from other worlds are here too, it's probably not any of them.

[Which just makes this more suspicious and frankly annoying.

Izuku's question earned him the deadest of deadpans before Ranma just unceremoniously stuck out his perfectly intact tongue.]

As for the usernames themselves, I don't think we have any reason to worry too much. It's strange to think someone or something might know a lot more about us but the rifts in general are so magical that it's probably something magical about it too.

[He's at least accepted that he can't stress out about it or he'll really hyperfocus.]

Nah. Unless you've got some technique or style you can impart onto me, I don't think there's much you could teach me that I don't already know. [Spoken a bit matter-of-factly, though he wasn't trying to sound arrogant when he said it.] But I agree with you there. The less fighting a martial artist does, the rusty their skills get over time without anything to push them. I'd be down for a spar anytime at anyplace!

You know, the trick is in learning the different styles. You'd be surprised about how much we all don't know once you start learning from others.

[Not trying to dismiss it, just that she remembers some of the things that Zangan had told her. His lessons that she takes very, very seriously, even to this day and wants to see everyone improve on their own skills.]

Different worlds, different needs, different techniques. You know?

Trust me, I'm well aware of that. That's actually my specialty.

[Anything Goes Martial Artist, School of Indiscriminate Grappling, whatever you want to call his style, it all boils down to the same concept: Learning any and all styles and overcoming any that stands in your way.]

You got that right. I'm always pushing to improve my skills as a martial artist. So if there is anything you can teach me, I'm all for it! I'm sure you'll be surprised once I pick it up in no time.
