If there is anyone with a penchant for feet who would take this ridiculous toe ring off my hands then I would be much obliged.

I did consider passing it over, but it seems I was the only one to answer their call for help. So many of you here and yet none deigned to lift a hand when asked.

I so happen to have an abundance of time. But no, I haven't been taking every request. This particular one happened to catch my eye.

A 'locked room mystery'. I thought such things only existed in books.

And did it live up to your expectations?

No. It wasn't even a deliberate act. 'Twas some petty thief who trapped themselves within a magical artefact after becoming too greedy. I turned them in as soon as possible and left.

Yeah... That's not even an interesting way to get yourself trapped.

Almost normal with some of the things that happen around here.

It almost makes me want to challenge someone to create a true 'locked room' mystery.

Challenge someone? Why not make one yourself?

That would require effort.

As opposed to putting it into solving one for someone else?

What interest does a jigsaw puzzle have to someone who already knows where all the pieces lie? Besides, thinking is less arduous than doing.

Isn't that what you'd be doing even if you come up with one yourself? More thinking and getting other people for the doing?

Provoking other people into action is not as difficult as you may think. All it requires is patience.

Meanwhile, if I had to come up with the scenario myself then I would be no doubt occupied for hours over several days or even weeks composing the situation. And then I would have to act it out myself, which is even worse. What sort of enjoyment am I supposed to derive from all that work?

Would you though? Have to act it out yourself? Not sure that it's a requirement.

What, so I would do ALL the thinking for some small-brained idiot who would no doubt botch the whole thing anyway?

My boy, I think you may be missing the whole point of this discussion: outside of war and certain criminal circles, murder is a crime of passion. 'Tis not an idle past-time one indulges in unless one possesses a severe lack of empathy for one's fellow man. What do I have to gain by murdering some hapless fellow and attempting to obfuscate my involvement? Nothing. If their death has no meaning to me, then there is no reason to conceal my involvement. 'Twould be the same if I were to hire a stand-in.

On the other hand, if, for example, a woman feels jilted by a cheating lover and decides to murder them or both parties in revenge, there is now meaning to attempting to conceal her involvement. There is satisfaction and closure in unravelling their thinking, their motive, and exposing the culprit. There is, dare I say, catharsis.
