What is the fastest route to acquiring a ship of one's own?

As a man of the desert, I am hardly equipped to crew one by myself; however, I am not the sort to promise a position and be unable to deliver. Still, I also have an interest in those who find themselves dissatisfied with their current circumstances, searching for...more.

I for one would hardly be content chasing petty bounties when there are bigger fish in the sea.

Buying it would allow for customizing it to your needs, though. I know someone else mentioned altering it yourself but I'm not sure whether or not that'd be harder if the ship is already built.

What are you looking for?

I will make do if it does not suit me. My concern lies in whether or not it can hold its own on the seas and against other ships.

So armor and weapons then. That should be easy enough to add, though you should be able to steal a ship that already has those.

I suppose the rest depends on whether you want to sink ships or board them.

I imagine it would depend on the circumstances, but it would be easy enough to sink one once boarded.

A swift ship, then, would be in order. Able to chase down any who flee.

You wouldn't want too much armor then, it'd weigh down the ship.

I guess you could try finding a crew member with powers that could either make the ship faster--wind related abilities, maybe--or make it tougher without slowing it down.

I could take care of the latter on my own. But wind abilities...

Yeah I don't think I've met anyone with them here yet other than the dragons from a few months back.

But if you can make it tougher without weighing it down, that would already do a lot.

It might also be possible to build a propulsion engine or motor, though you'd need someone with a lot of scientific or magical knowledge for that.
