What is the fastest route to acquiring a ship of one's own?

As a man of the desert, I am hardly equipped to crew one by myself; however, I am not the sort to promise a position and be unable to deliver. Still, I also have an interest in those who find themselves dissatisfied with their current circumstances, searching for...more.

I for one would hardly be content chasing petty bounties when there are bigger fish in the sea.

What were these materials and elements, and why did you seek them?

[He didn't particularly want to get into the details of what his ship was made of publicly, but he could provide an overview of the basics without giving much away.]

Materials and elements appropriate for a ship whose crew is focused on research and experimentation even while at sea, particularly of magical items, effects, and materials. The usual wood, cloth, rope and paint any ship needs to be made of. But also, one of the original members insisted on a specific metal that is not common to this world due to it's difficulty in manufacturing. Another wished to include magitech items that could influence our ship's ability to conduct research properly. And this venerable one chose to include black jade and a dragonfly.

[Oh yeah, did he mention that his ship was focused on research of the magical and technological variety? And that might be why he found being a captian more interesting than trying to conquer this world?]

What is magitech?

Technology powered by magics. Neither purely magic nor purely technology. It is a newer field of study for this world, but not a new science for them. It seems to be more of a lost art that has been recently revived as some magitech artifacts have been found in ancient ruins. Elemental magics are quite potent as power sources for various items and effects.

A pity the Megamaki isn't capable of extended sea travel of its own. It would make these tasks far easier.

There are regular requests on the MANTA Boards for aid in researching various magitech advances from those of this world that study it, should you find interest in them after you have acquired your own ship. Additionally, any such objects or related information you may find in your travels, the Raiders of the Lost Arts would be interested in having shared.
