[ The videos opens to a familiar face who, surprisingly given the past couple of weeks or so, is actually smiling warmly into the camera.

Small portions of his surroundings can be seen in the background, placing his whereabouts in a rather grassy field. ]

Thought you would like to see the recent companions I've come across. [ He says before panning his face out of view and onto a pile of... chicks?

Well. Chocobo chicks to be exact.

There are eight of them from what the camera depicts- their colors ranging from bright yellow, to silver, to a slightly darker mix of the two. Beyond their chirping forms their mother is seen looking curiously on beside them. Another yellow chocobo is seen further off in the field, and with the presence of Torgal attempting to sniff at them from a safe distance, it looks as though Clive is currently surrounded by animals...!]

It appears they are but a few days old. Funny. I never thought you to be the motherly type, Ambrosia— [ Clive playfully mocks at the older chocobo who shakes her winged feathers in response.

"Kweh!"

He'll laugh off screen before inching the camera a bit closer to the chicks, who are scrambling around and practically running over one another in childish excitement. ]

Should anyone have need of a new companion, let me know. While chocobos could prove to be very useful here, I don't think I can handle quite this many.

Pretty much. They're like ostriches, but different.

[What are those differences? Who can say? Looking closely at the birds on his screen, Ranma hummed a wondering noise to himself before snapping his finger.]

Now I remember where I saw those before! Cid drew a picture of one to me a while back. The real deal looks a lot better than those scribbles.

Ostriches? [ Cue the rather confused stare as he gives a lopsided smile. ] I didn't know there were that many large birds running about.

[ Chocobos certainly have a run for their gil.

But ah. Yes. Cid's beautiful drawing. ]

These are the very same. Don't take Cid's drawings to heart, though. Never was his strong suit.

[ Clive will take any opportunity to roast the fuck out of Cid. It's okay! Keep going! ]

Eventually, yes. Are you interested in one?

That's nature for you. Lots of flightless huge birds that run around all over the place and look like the stuff of nightmares.

[Okay, not all over the place. Some of those birds have specific habitats they inhabit. But Clive can piece that together on his own, no?]

Figured. His drawing looked like something a pre-schooler would doodle for their parents to hang on the fridge.

[SORRY CID.]

Might be. Haven't had a pet all my life. [On account of them traveling the world and neither having the funds to take care of one. There's also the fact that in nature, there's a lot of animals that'd rather rip you apart than roll over for a belly scratch.]

How hard could it be though? Any advice or tips on taking care of those birds?

[gruffier]

[ There were other bird-like creatures he was aware of in his own realm, but none that truly reached any comparison to the ones waddling about beside him. Huh.

Clive has to a chuckle a bit at the continued scorning of Cid's poor drawing. Really, the man should have known people were more ruthless here than they lead themselves to be.

And as he goes to make a comment himself, he is stopped by the question.

Might I suggest something a bit... smaller as your first pet? [ Not that he can really say much. He has a freaking wolfhound, for crying out lout. But Ranma... ]

Chocobos are large creatures that need room to roam, a lot of food, and grooming to maintain their plumage.

[Call him a critic. Not like he has any room to judge when his drawing skills are... less than ideal.

He face formed a grimace. Did Clive seriously think he was incapable of taking care of a giant bird?! He might not've taken care of a pet before (unless you want to include 'P-chan' in that group, but that's a complicated situation), but he knows the essentials of handling one!]

Come on, I'll take good care of it! Why else would I be asking you what all it needs if I wasn't serious about this? Plus the cottage I bought has a lot of open space in the back, and I know an acre that's nothing but land far as the eye can see, so it'd have a lot of space to roam about. Please man?

[Don't make him bust out the puppy dog eyes Clive!]

[ Do you see his face? Does it look like he's convinced?

No. But he also has a horrible time saying no to just about anyone, so he's going to find a middle ground before he instantly blurts out in agreement. ]

I'd have you prove yourself before making a final decision. [ He can't help but be a little overprotective over the hatchlings, okay!


... Maybe he was acting like a dad, what- ]

Would you be willing to do that?

[Vigorously nodding his head.]

Name it, it's done!

[Whatever the challenge may be, he's up for it!]

Alright then.

[ He smirks, turning the camera towards the pile of chicks. Yet rather than leave it at them, he'll pan it upward to...

Yup. You've guessed it. Their mother. ]

This is Ambrosia. A fine steed in both name and battle. If you can tend to her, then I see no reason to deny you one of her chicks.

[ She's rather self sufficient on her but... maybe this would prove to be quite the challenge. ]

[Oh dear momma. This'll go...]

That's all? Pfft, I thought you were gonna give me a real challenge.

[It can't be that grueling, can it?]

[gruffier]

[ Oh ho. Here they go. ]

I'm at The Roost. Should you be up for it, you can meet me on that island.

[Don't mind the incredulous tone to his voice, hearing that name. The joke's writing itself.]
