Hello, and good day- I am Professor Turo for those who I have yet to meet.

This message is more for those of you that also visited Snaxburg Island and either had one of the creatures there follow you off of it, or may have... unfortunately eaten any of them.

[As he spoke, Turo's tone may have remained calm but there was a serious note to it. There did happen to be a Strabby perched on the desk behind him, a pink bow tied around it, which Turo did know was around but didn't know was there at the moment. There was, however, one he did know was going to be in frame.

Held very much like a hamburger he lifted up a BBQ Bunger so that googly eyes were facing the phone's camera.]

I do in fact mean those creatures like this- for those who might not have gone to the island, or even those who may need a reminder. These creatures that are known as Bugsnax are parasitic creatures that only have that nature turn into something dangerous upon being eaten. So again-

[After setting Chipotle the BBQ Bunger back down.]

Do not eat the Bugsnax, they are parasitic in nature upon being consumed.

If you have eaten any of the creatures found on Snaxburg Island, we may need to have a word or more. Please do get in touch.

You could go to someone else's world with them, provided their world had ambient magic... or you had an alternative source of power.

That may also mean the Paradox Pokémon with me may come along as well.

Depending on the world and circumstances, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Lots of places you might be able to pass them off as strange robots or something, and if you've got access to somewhere more remote you might not have to worry about people seeing them at all.

I also doubt just your team would really hurt the local ecology unless they can reproduce asexually or something.

(Since they know the latter is a big important thing for him.

Personally, they'd be way more worried about the former.)

I would only wish to isolate them if it still allowed them places to roam freely and safely- for themselves as well.

They are not able to as far as I know, no. It is really only them appearing in great number, as they had been, that could decimate an ecosystem and all it supported.

So you'd want access to a ranch or wilderness area, or a place where the Pokemon could blend in either as strange animals or advanced robots.

They would be taken from their actual home for a third time after all.

[Time Machine, ship in a bottle- whatever may come after this if it were indeed possible to go anywhere else.]

We have had talks while I was ensuring they adjusted to being here.


I was created to care for them, the equipment and necessary routines, along with assisting the Professor. There was very little reason to worry for myself.

I think ensuring you have a place either here or somewhere else and won't just die is a pretty good reason to start.

Won't be able to care for the pokemon at all if you're gone.

That is very true.

Perhaps it is rather strange that I am only recently beginning to care about my own well being after so long.

Humans are taught to value themselves from birth. We don't really get that.

(Is their own lack of concern over injury in battle just another form of Turo's inability to recognize danger? They're pretty sure at least part of the latter is also naivety but it's a question worth pondering.)

We don't, no. Even if I was built to withstand various attacks from pokémon it was simply so I could better assist when things were too dangerous for the Professor.

Built to last, but only down there.

I'm sorry.

(It's weird to hear--or read, in this case--someone as optimistic and friendly as Turo agree so matter of factly about their lives lacking value in the eyes of others. They're not really sure what else to say.)

At least, here, the very few who know what I am... do not treat me any differently than they did before.

I hope, even if it takes time, you find those that you feel are trustworthy enough to tell.

Not saying you will have to, of course. I am beginning to understand the danger it can pose more than I already felt.

You and Dojima are already two more people than I had at home.

I have far more freedom here than I ever imagined possible- and I can choose which projects to involve myself in.

Any idea what you plan to work on next?

[fractales]

Outside of writing up a report about Snaxburg Island to hopefully get the area contained and quarantined? A proposal to allow volunteer researchers to study it, see if perhaps we can find a way to deal with the parasitic nature of the creatures there should there be more islands like it out there.

I will also continue my work on adapting various potions to work in this world, along with other things. I may have had a small breakthrough with the magitech barriers as well.

Didn't know you were working on barriers.

It is a bit of a group project! Starting on personal barriers that people can carry on their person, and once that is managed work on enlarging to ships- and perhaps one day a barrier that can lend extra protection to a Leviathan.

I have made a few prototypes to prove a working theory that is safe to use, but now I must work on a way to copy that with a different power source and magnifier.

Sounds useful. What power source were you using?

For my personal testing I have been using refined Tera crystal- but I know I can do the same with, shall we say, a fire crystal; I simply have to adjust a little in my handling of it.

I can also use certain types of glass, or a regular crystal, to act as the magnifier for the energy in creating a barrier shield.

Please don't tell the Humans that the current power source for the newly invented defense is best obtained by hurting you.

(It's Turo, they feel the need to drill this into his head.

Like, come on, designing the prototype like that is just asking for some asshole to start wondering if there's a way to get Tera crystals instead of having to find another power source ..)

So far only you and Dojima know that I can.. produce them. I arrived with shards, and it has been easy enough to leave it at that. I have also designed the prototypes in a way that if someone tries to remove the Tera crystal an energy feedback will be produced and cause it to shatter completely.

Also a reason those that I may ask help testing will only have fire crystals as the power source and a different energy magnifier.
