I've noticed that people around here like surveys and I thought I'd join in on making one! Some of you may know that our first year anniversary of our arrival here in this world is coming up real soon. Like two weeks - give or take a few days. So I thought I'd see who else has been here as long as I have! I feel like I've seen at least most of the "veterans" once or twice and if we haven't talked yet:

1. How long have you been here?
2. Are there other people from your world here? (Optional: How many?)
3. Have there been people from your world that have already gone home? (Optional: How long were they here and how many?)
4. What was your first "event" in this world?
5. What's been your favorite "event" so far?
6. Are you here to live out the rest of your life, or are you looking for a way home? (Optional: Why?)

I'll answer it first!

1. 16 days away from a year.
2. Nope!
3. Like briefly one person on new arrival day and then never again.
4. Ghoul's Moon.
5. Same answer as above. It was pretty fun fighting all the undead. I guess the Masquerade Ball was pretty okay, too.
6. Maybe? I dunno, this world is a lot better for me than my own.

[ Is it strange? Perhaps. Odder things have happened. Maybe he has a skewed sense of it after so long spent curating events over the course of time. ]

I wasn't paying any particular attention to this world's moon at the time. I found corpses and research notes and burnt the remains, that's all.

And no, the whole point of my labours was to restore my world and its people to their original states. As I've failed, I no longer have reason to linger. Especially without those dear to me.

Huh, doesn't ring a bell. Then again I don't always stay up-to-date with everything that happens around here.

Not trying to get you to stay or anything, but there's always a chance the people you care about could show up someday, right?

The people I care about are all long gone, and the only one who isn't certainly won't be coming here.

Still, you aren't the only one who has told me to try and find some purpose. I'm afraid I may be looking for quite some time yet.

You did not seem terribly shocked by my age so can I assume you are older than you look?

Isn't that the great thing about this place, though? Time doesn't matter here when you think about it. You could be from your point in time, and your friends could all come from earlier in their lives.

[ Some people might even be here from after their death. ]

If nothing else, you've got a purpose in trying to get home right now.

Oh yeah, I'm like a thousand years old. Plus I know someone here who's like 50 thousand years old or something close to that.

[ Ok, Dongfang is on 38,000 or so, but she doesn't want to make it obvious. ]

Be that as it may, I feel a gap of some tens of thousands of years to be excessive. I'd rather they never showed up at all.

Fifty thousand years old? Are you perchance referring to the captain of my crew, Dongfang Qingcang?

Maybe a little. What will you do if they show up?

[ Since they have no control over who appears and who doesn't. ]

Yep, that's the guy. I really think he's warming up to me after all these months.

He ends up distracted, thinking about this, and nearly forgets to respond. ]

I don't think our captain is capable of cracking even a single smile. He is rather cold and aloof, like the moon he constantly references.

That's fair. I'm not sure what I'd do if the person I knew a thousand years ago showed up.

I could think of a reason or two that he might smile for. And I mean a nice smile, not a "I've crushed my enemy beneath my heel" sort of smiles.

Hm, I'm not sure he'd be happy if I shared this secret.

So how about a hint. Just watch him for a few days, I'm sure you'll figure it out.

I've no shortage of time on the ship. That should be an easy matter.

Although since he hardly smiles to begin with, I'm not sure 'happy' exists within his emotional range.
