Two nerds and their robot

Type: Video
Sender ID: peopleneedyou (Tadashi Hamada) featuring; Hiro Hamada (baymaxing) & Baymax
To: Everyone
Subject: Meet the Hamadas and Baymax
Warnings: None

[ The video post starts up to reveal the faces of the Hamada brothers, along with what looks like a red suitcase beside Hiro. Their location isn’t anything special, just somewhere inland on Elrut right now, but the elder brother is smiling anyway. ]

Hello everyone, I’m Tadashi Hamada and this is my younger brother…

[ Tadashi motions to Hiro. The younger brother waves, smiling, and turns his gaze from Tadashi to the phone. ]

I’m Hiro! And this… [He gestures to the suitcase next to him before purposely pulling off a plaster from his knee. His ‘ow’ in instinctive response activates the robot inside, causing Baymax to inflate and turn on, introducing himself with a wave. ]

Hello. I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion. I was alerted to the need for medical attention when you said ‘ow’.

You’ll be seeing Baymax around one or both of us often, so we wanted to introduce him and ourselves. I’m also interested in finding out if anyone had a temporary charging solution seeing as how I haven’t come across a power outlet anywhere yet. [ Tadashi holds up the power cord on Baymax’s charging station for anyone who hasn’t seen anything like it before. ]

Yeah, I’m not sure if the technology here is necessarily compatible—at least, not without some adapting or figuring on our part. Baymax is the priority. Even if it would be cool to actually use my handheld, it won’t die on me eventually. Tadashi and I were both pretty good with tech back home, but this might take some adjusting.

[ Hiro says, a puff of air from his sigh shifting his mess of bangs before he raises his hands in reassuring Baymax that he was fine given the robot approaches and wants to check him over. ]

On a scale of one-to-ten…

[ Tadashi chuckles as he moves to end the video recording for the post while Baymax tends to Hiro. ]

[Some thorough notes with diagrams and various sketches- better than nothing with that.]

Animals are amazing creatures- and very much can tell what may be going on in an environment for a long period of time, and the plants for a short period of time- or far longer, depending. I have focused some of my studies on that here, all to better understand how magic is so interwoven in this world.

Reason I was able to develop a sort of battery that could recharge by simply being left to absorb the ambient energies.
baymaxing: (Like my fingerprints)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-09-24 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm gonna have to figure out this magic aspect here.

What you're saying there sounds like solar - I mean, back home, with some things getting energy from the sun? But obviously, here it might be more like energy from the magic around or something, is that it?

[Baymax, for his part, merely listens, for now, curious and trying to learn what he can from this conversation. ]
fractales: (Who wouldn't think he's some dude)

[personal profile] fractales 2024-09-24 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
It can take time, more so if not from world where anything like it exists. My time was somewhat easier, even if I looked at it with the knowledge of pokémon abilities being similar.

[Just apply it to people being able to manipulate such power.

Turo nodded-]

Something akin to that, yes. Magic is in the very air we breathe, the soil, and the water; this world is saturated with magical energy and so this battery is able to use that and convert to to power to store and use.
baymaxing: (My childhood)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-09-27 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
We have some similarities, having creatures back home but not necessarily with the same abilities as those from your home. It's different but not that dissimilar.

[He shrugs, listening when the other talks about magical energy being used and converted, stored.]

Yeah, so it's sort of similar to our generators, solar chargers, or batteries. Just with magic instead of storing and using electricity? I guess?
fractales: (It's something always there)

[personal profile] fractales 2024-10-06 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Creatures, whatever they may be, are at least some constant- some friendlier than others, while there are those that make good companions.

[With or without strange abilities akin to magic.

His head tipped to one side, just briefly, before there was a nod- looking off camera as if searching for something he might have out—]

I do believe you have it, yes. I figured that it was a decent path to take, as while solar power is certainly efficient it was easier to adapt a crystal powered battery to recharge by ambient magical energy.
baymaxing: (My childhood)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-10-09 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, some are more wild or feral than others. Some are more friendly and domesticated. Even then sometimes they can snap and attack someone.

[But the main point is there. The other is probably aware of that from creatures back home, alongside these Pokemon. Likely some of them were also the same, some being friendlier than others. Still, Hiro nods, a hand to his chin as he considers and agrees.]

Yeah. I can see why you went that route here at least.
fractales: (I thought this was further up)

[personal profile] fractales 2024-10-16 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Pokémon fall within various intelligence levels, while wild ones also of varying degrees of territorial behavior on top of that. Even some of them are friendly, while others would rather hide.

Others may charge and attack, especially if they have something to protect- though I do have to admit some wild pokémon attack in order to test a person, to see if perhaps they are strong enough to become a loyal companion or not. Common behavior.

[Very, very common behavior. Still, there were some that behaved the same as simple animals while others held more human intelligence; or toddler level, at least.]

Indeed. A reason I believe it may be the best way to go for your friend Baymax here.
baymaxing: (Remember me for centuries)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-10-17 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
I guess all that makes sense. I mean, creatures back home are the same. Some are smarter than others, some are friendlier, more uh, domesticated to live among humans than others.

[Hiro says, shrugging and feeling that pang of ache in missing Mochi. The hijinks he got up to as a kid tormenting that poor cat, dressing Mochi up, using the cat as a guinea pig for trying out the rocket boots he had made....]

We'll think about it. Look into alternatives. Ideally, we wouldn't want to have to change things too much. Else it might be a pain once we get back home.

[personal profile] fractales 2024-10-24 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Some wanting to live amongst humans as well. There is still much we don't know, and likely more species to discover in time, but that is part of the fun to living.

[Something he held memories but- well. There was only so far someone could go on a memory that was beyond their own senses to experience.

Nodding then.]

Something more in an adaption than full change, one easy to revert back. Little would need to be done to his systems, and I would be happy to show how it is done if it is the way the two of you do decide.
baymaxing: (New beginnings on an open page)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-10-25 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I guess that's the same as animals. Some are more friendly or domesticated in general. Compared to others who are more feral or wild and don't like humans. I think that sounds pretty neat. Discovering new Pokemon and learning about new species. I've not necessarily focused on animals and that back home, besides having a pet cat, Mochi, but still.

[Obviously that isn't quite the same. It still sounds interesting, and exciting to be the first to discover something though.]

If it's easy to revert, that's a plus. We'll see what we figure out between what's available here and who is offering help. But thanks. We'll keep it in mind and be in touch.

The focus comes with being what is known as a Pokémon Professor, along with the variety of fields that come along with it in their study and care. Supplying young trainers with what they might need here and there, though my focus certainly was able to move elsewhere due to Uva Academy doing the same for trainers.

[...likely why the Professor had been able to bury so deeply and go so long without contact that so few seemed to worry. Or reach out.

Really, better not to think about at the moment.]

I am easy to get a hold of either way.
baymaxing: (Top of the world)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-11-03 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Uva Academy. I just know school was kind of a drag for me. I never felt like I fit in, because everyone else was older than me. It all came so easily to me, so I'd get bored. Maybe it might have been different if I was in your world.

[Hiro shrugs, but he does nod at the other saying he was easy to get hold of. They know how to contact each other with these shellphone things. So this isn't too difficult. Once they figure things out and what they want and need to do for Baymax.]

Yeah. Right. Same.

fractales: (Those memories not just faded)

[personal profile] fractales 2024-11-03 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The pride of the Paldea region in many ways. Perhaps so; there are students of all ages there, from young children to even adults. There is no limit for those who wish to learn more about the world, along with the basics.

[He did nod a bit, that smile still remaining-]

Do not forget you may do so, even if it is perhaps to see Miraidon again.
baymaxing: (Born inside)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-11-04 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
That's good that age wouldn't be an issue. I know my being so young might make things a bit trickier if I hadn't figured out how to impress the professors at SFIT.

[So, Hiro likes that. And hopefully, that would mean others there wouldn't be bullied just because they were younger like he was. He hopes so, at least.]

I'll come by to see Miraidon again. And show you Baymax. We can figure this together.
fractales: (Down at the bottom)

[personal profile] fractales 2024-11-05 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
There are quite a lot there that would be far younger than you. Classes even have mixed ages, depending upon the subject; art, basic mathematics, and even Home Ec. can be counted amongst those.

The real division is based upon battling skill levels, and even those mix during free times.

[Any who wanted to learn, no matter their age, were allowed to. Of course those far younger were taken care of if staying on school grounds, last he could recall—]

I would be honored to meet Baymax and help however able, and I am sure I am not alone in looking forward to seeing you. Miraidon may not show it- or hide it as easily as they may think.
baymaxing: (Somewhere another pretty vein just dies)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-11-06 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so used to being in class with older kids. So that'd be a bit different. I haven't actually checked yet on if there's a school or something here.

[Does he have to go? Technically he is still a minor and all. But he's also aware his situation is kind of unique in being fourteen and being accepted to university back home, four years ahead of most his age. He does smile at the other looking forward to meeting Baymax proper, and Miraidon.]

Miraidon liked me, huh? I guess I just petted them the same way I would with Mochi. Instinct.
fractales: (It's fine it's fine it's fine)

[personal profile] fractales 2024-11-06 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
There is likely something akin to a school on Elah, otherwise there may not be too much on offer outside of hired tutors.

[Things seemed much different here, and education something the Paladins and those with the means to have that much money to spare did more for the fact they could than anything else. Hm. Perhaps a bit of that was something he could offer in his own spare time.

After speaking with Dojima after all; better to ensure he wasn't taking too much on his plate simply because he could.]

Indeed, but better not to let Miraidon know I told you. While better these days, they have something still of an ego- still, Miraidon has grown to enjoy the attention.
baymaxing: (Innocence)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-11-08 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't figured to look into it. I've just been I guess focusing on learning where everything is. Ideas with what is available here for how Tadashi and I might be able to help while we figure things and settle in.

[Hiro chuckles at that. At the least, he doesn't need to deal with that with Baymax. The robot has no ego to be able to preen and get fond of all the attention he gets.]

I bet. Most here wouldn't be familiar with creatures like them. Of course people are going to be curious.
fractales: (It's something always there)

[personal profile] fractales 2024-11-09 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, learning through hands on experience may do you the best job here. Otherwise something could likely be found- when and if wanted, of course. I know that I have helped a few learn how to work with elemental crystals and gems for power sources and the like; it is a specialty of mine.

[The most difficult, and potentially dangerous parts was refining and shaping them to work with whatever was wanted. Perhaps part of why he worked so hard to produce quality; he could withstand the risk.

Turo still couldn't help the chuckle.]

Each of them are wonderous, and I am rather proud of how they have adjusted to this world. Miraidon's own time has done quite well to help feel secure, so the territorial behavior has lessened a great deal.

A reason I trust having Miraidon with me for certain errands, for example.
baymaxing: (New beginnings on an open page)

[personal profile] baymaxing 2024-11-10 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't considered here, but I've been distracted settling in and planning for what Tadashi and I might want to do here yet. But I'm not against the idea of going to school and learning about this place. It just might be a little trickier with all the travel.

[Hiro gives a shrug, but he does smile at Miraidon showing progress.]

Yeah, Baymax is gonna have a lot to learn about this place and everyone here. Once we figure sorting his charging situation, we'll probably keep him active out and about with us most of the time. But I guess that's good. I wouldn't have figured there might be as much territorial behaviour if they were the only Pokemon around.
