A curious question to my fellow riftfarers — to those who are capable of "summoning" or calling upon powerful beings or even people, how does it work in your world? Any particular requirements? Contracts?

And have you any luck doing so while here? Any changes you've discovered?

[This is a general broadcast type post, so anyone can threadhop if they'd like to swap stories or anything! Cid will be reading everything...with very keen interest.]

In case you're wondering what this is about, while on that ghost ship a girl somehow managed to summon me from a rock she had—materia she called it. She also knew about Ramuh and some of the other Eikons from our world.

Given there was no warning and that she might not be the only one, thought I should give everyone a heads up. For now I'll be trying some tests with her to see how it works and will share the results.

It's that "if you feel like it" part that makes things a little less certain.

[What the fuck why is her phone ringing—

She doesn't mean to tap the video button, so when she answers, she brings her phone up to her ear and he'll get a nice eyeful of her beautiful blonde hair.]

[Before Cid can answer, he has to just stare at the view he gets from his screen.]

Pull the phone away—hold it to your face.

[garudas]

[There's a muffled sound as her hand readjusts on the phone, her clicking her tongue and cursing under a breath, and she holds the phone upside-down and way too close.]

What!?

[She echoes it again, as if that didn't just happen and this is totally the first time she's answering him.]

[ramuhs]

He's glancing away, a hand over his mouth as he tries not to laugh. Instead he just. Quietly clears his throat.]

Upside-down.

[garudas]

[asdfjsfgh!!!! She's SCREAMING on the inside. STUPID PHONE!!!

She's just going to slap the phone down on the table, so here you go, you can look up at the ceiling and a bottom-up view of her lighting her pipe impatiently.]

Out with it.

[ramuhs]

[Oh he's trying so, so hard to not laugh an he'll just. Briefly duck out of view so she can't see the smile that's forming.

Ahem ahem.]

Like I said, I wasn't flaunting anything. And I'm only considering this because I need to test my own limits now that I seem to have my full power back.

Well, sans Ramuh.

[She knows. He doesn't need to hide it because she knows, the smug bastard.

Benedikta pauses, puffing a moment, before she leans forward, staring right into her phone, and right into him.]

And so you're going to do it with him?

[... Are there not five other Dominants on these godforsaken ships?]

What exactly can he offer you that no one else can? And how can you be so sure that you can trust him?
