I guess I will kick off the new year with a hearty hello! That is, according to this calendar it seems like. Back home this would be the Guardian Moon.

Anyway, that's not really what this is about. While it's a little early to think about gardening, I wouldn't mind getting a head start. My home doesn't really do cold months, you see. Cold nights, sure, but snow and ice? Not really. So I really thought about taking up a hobby of mine, you know?

I went ahead and threw together a list of the plants I am looking to cultivate. Looking for anyone who might be able to help a guy out. I've scribbled some rough drawings together, but ignore my messy handwriting. Embarrassing, I know.

I'd say that there's not much to know, but that would be a lie. It's not just sunlight, temperature, and water conditions you have to worry about. There's also soil condition. It's a pretty relaxing hobby to take up, if you're ever interested.

Not that I'll turn down anyone who wants to help haul things around.

Yeah, I've never considered getting even a houseplant. I'm not home long enough to take care of it any given day.

I've never had a hobby before.

Right now would be a good time to pick a hobby or two up, if you don't mind me saying. When would you get an opportunity like this otherwise?

I wouldn't even know where to start. I figured I'd just keep patrolling here like I do at home.

I don't really have an answer for why not. I'm not sure that we're completely disconnected from home.

Patrolling sounds more like work than a happy, healthy hobby, friend.

Also I'd love to hear your theory behind why you don't think we're disconnected, which is not the word I used, but we're going to go with it anyway.

I don't have any hobbies, all I do is work.

I wouldn't say I have a theory, so much as I have a healthy amount of caution that I might still be under a watchful eye, so I have to behave myself, right?

All work and no play, you know.

I do get where you are coming from though. Not really a person who immediately believes everything that they here. However, I'm choosing to believe it this time around because the alternative isn't an option.

I don't know, actually.

I wish I could afford that. I'm an optimistic person, but not to the point of leaving myself open to danger, if I can help it.

It makes for a very dull person. I still stand by that now it's a good opportunity to try new things.

Which is to say, I think you can have both: holding to thoughts of better options but also making sure you're not vulnerable.
