I guess I will kick off the new year with a hearty hello! That is, according to this calendar it seems like. Back home this would be the Guardian Moon.

Anyway, that's not really what this is about. While it's a little early to think about gardening, I wouldn't mind getting a head start. My home doesn't really do cold months, you see. Cold nights, sure, but snow and ice? Not really. So I really thought about taking up a hobby of mine, you know?

I went ahead and threw together a list of the plants I am looking to cultivate. Looking for anyone who might be able to help a guy out. I've scribbled some rough drawings together, but ignore my messy handwriting. Embarrassing, I know.

I'm not sure about taking care of plants, but if you need to find some in the wild, my nose could probably sniff some out.

[And there's a pause here as there's the sound of fumbling with the Shellphone, before suddenly, the video feed clicks on Nanaki's end. And staring ahead is a very feline-looking face.]

If you tell me what the plants smell like, I'm sure I can track them down.

[ He doesn't quite switch to video. If only because he knows what his face is doing. Don't get him wrong, it's not because he's shocked to see a talking... Lion? But more so that uh - ]

I don't think it would be a good idea to go sniffing around some of these plants. They aren't really safe for anyone with fur.

[Honestly even without the video, Nanaki wouldn't be surprised by the shocked reaction. Still, he tilts his head.]

Are they really that dangerous? It's not like I eat flowers, you know.

I mean they're all dangerous if consumed. That's the entire point.

But some of these have sap or might just have some scents that aren't very nice to four legged friends. I wouldn't let Azita near them.

Well, I've smelled some pretty gross things in the past. And I could always bring someone with me to collect the flowers for me.

If they're all dangerous to eat, why do you want them?

You think that you'd let me off with an answer like "personal reasons?"

You're not planning to do anything bad with them, are you?

Not if I don't have to.

Hey now. You never know what sort of situation may arise where it's needed.

But how do I know you're not going to use them on anyone here?

As long as no one gives me a reason to give them a stomach ache then they are probably safe.

Is that all it'll do? Give them a stomachache?

[HMMM... But eventually, Nanaki gives a huff.]

Well, so long as you're not planning to hurt anyone with them... but if people start getting sick, don't think I won't sniff it out.

In most cases? Yes. Not everything has to be about hurting people, you know. Sometimes it's just about getting an upper hand. An advantage.

Sometimes getting the upper hand and hurting people end up being the same thing. A lot of humans can't tell the difference.

But... again, if you're not going to hurt anyone with them, I can help you find them.

I can't argue that.

People get pretty strange sometimes when they feel very strongly about things. That's not exclusive to humans though.

No, I suppose not. But animals are usually a lot quicker to get the message than humans.

[They may be just as stubborn as humans, a quick show of strength can have them backing down and calming down. And scuffles usually don't end up with massive destructive battles. But then again, he's a little biased.]

Maybe. Though I've seen some non-humans be pretty vicious and not quick to "get the message" so to speak.

[Huff huff. Well, it's probably better to let this topic slide, and move onto the real order of business.]

So, are you needing these flowers right away? Because I don't know if any are blooming with all the snow right now, but I could probably ask around some of the shops...

Right away? No, no. There's no rush on that and, well, it is the middle of the colder moons, right? The calendar here is a little different than what I am used to.

I still need to get things together in preparation anyway. Really I was hoping for starts or seeds more than blooms or leaves themselves.

Well, there are a couple of florists on Elah if you want to look there. If any grow in the wild, I can look when the weather warms up. And... hmm, I might know a few people I could ask, if you wouldn't mind.
