I guess I will kick off the new year with a hearty hello! That is, according to this calendar it seems like. Back home this would be the Guardian Moon.

Anyway, that's not really what this is about. While it's a little early to think about gardening, I wouldn't mind getting a head start. My home doesn't really do cold months, you see. Cold nights, sure, but snow and ice? Not really. So I really thought about taking up a hobby of mine, you know?

I went ahead and threw together a list of the plants I am looking to cultivate. Looking for anyone who might be able to help a guy out. I've scribbled some rough drawings together, but ignore my messy handwriting. Embarrassing, I know.

[Naturally, all things in moderation.]

War does, unfortunately, have a way of trampling over those who wanted nothing to do with it in the first place. I'm very sorry to hear it. The old saying regarding necessity being the mother of invention is especially true in wartime, I imagine. While I have certainly faced my share of peril, I admit that I have been fortunate enough not to witness a war between nations firsthand.

Such things are hardly ever black and white, are they? It's quite rare that such things are started by someone who is wholly and universally reprehensible, but as you say, perhaps we should leave that discussion for another time.

I can't imagine myself ever arguing against experimentation, given it's a vital step in the learning process! Exactly right; if one is going to be able to undo the effects of a given poison, one must understand how it works. I do have some experience in alchemy myself, largely in the realm of potions, but I know a particularly industrious young alchemist here by the name of Alfyn who seems able to suss out near any concoction he comes across.

You'll find none better, I assure you, though we do have a number of botanically-minded sorts about. I'm certain that the responses you've received already will show you that you may even be spoiled for choice.

I'm curious, what were your expectations?

I've noticed that many of our riftfarers seem to have rather particular skillsets. Perhaps we're chosen to come here because some power considers we might be of use— which I suppose means there are many of us who share some more niche interests.

I'll be interested to see how your garden fares, sir.
