Warnings: Totally absolutely completely legal extracurricular activities
Given current events, I've had a few projects I've been pondering. I don't suppose anyone would be interested in making handmade fireworks? With precautions taken, of course, these are just for fun at festivals.
While I'm on the subject, how many of you are familiar with cameras, or other ways to take pictures, in your own worlds? Would you mind telling me much about them.
Ah, and one more thing. I've been considering getting some people together for a research project, of a sort. Or I suppose, something like a study group and a book club. I'd like to discuss it in person, though, so please feel free to drop by the Cafe.

I do think this endeavor might be exactly up your alley, Professor.

You've certainly piqued my interest, my friend. I have a feeling we have much to speak about.

[The cafe itself is...pretty normal, despite all that's been happening. There's a sign up that says Corsair customers will need to place their orders through Mehrak or the self-serve machines for the time being, and asking customers to please maintain a safe distance from one another when sitting down, but otherwise life proceeds as normal.
Kaveh's tinkering with something at the counter, so he won't notice when Cyrus arrives, not immediately. Shadowlily does, though. Shadowlily demands pets.]

definitely been here in the entire timegotten his fingers into different situations here and there, but for the most part, has been sticking to alfyn and closely observing the varying proceedings.the cafe is a welcome place of solace, but even here, it is touched by the political strife - the sight of it makes him frown just slightly, but it's really only so much to put him into a thoughtful mood as he makes his way through the open door. he dips down immediately to stroke a hand over shadowlily's head and give her a few scritches behind the ear, and then sweeps across the cafe to head to the counter, clearing his throat. ]
Kaveh, my friend. [ warm and friendly as ever - despite the circumstances, he's still himself through and through. ] I hope I'm not interrupting your workflow?

Not at all! I just lost track of time. I take it you'll want your usual?

[ hehe. it's always nice to see kaveh in general - it makes some of the weight of the situation fade. ]
If you'ev a moment for me to pick your brain, of course.

[But he'll have that coffee bubbling away to brew shortly.]
I'm sure you've already figured out this isn't just research for the sake of research, Professor.

[ things have been ramping up as of late - frankly, if it had been a trivial pursuit, cyrus would have been more surprised. he glances briefly, casually, around their surroundings, but otherwise leans against the counter a bit, expression thoughtful. ]
What's the plan, then?

[Kaveh tips his head to one side.] Truly, I don't know if there will be anything useful in those books, but the restriction of information is another form of control, and I'm not keen to see either Armada have it. If it so happens that the restricted books have information on the Leviathans and their magic, or on the Rifts themselves...all the better.
[But really, it's about breaking some of the dominion the armadas have over the people. That unquestionable control--where has it lead them? Pointing fingers at each other instead of cleaning house? Kaveh knows where this road leads and he won't stand for it.]

... I'm certain you and I have discussed this before, but I've no love for the withholding of knowledge by those who would claim it locked away in an ivory tower. The Conservatory in particular is a stick in my proverbial craw.
[ from pretty much day one - getting access to the conservatory was easy enough, and he'd long since proven his skills as a scholar and researcher, a familiar face in the archives rooms. he'd even done them favors in the months past, recording waterlogged books with painstaking and perfect accuracy. there's little reason for the conservatory's staff to find him as anything but a studious and helpful paladin.
... and besides, he's never been bothered by placing his nose firmly where it doesn't belong in the name of knowledge and good. this is no exception. ]
You can consider me on board. Have you tasked others with similar? Or had any volunteers, I suppose.

[Kaveh shakes his head.]
Xehanort's responded, and of course Alhaitham's on board...I have some hopes that Gale will also assist us, but he hasn't stopped by yet. Unfortunately, Khalid and G'raha aren't paladins, so in this they can't assist directly...
[A pause.] As well as a few souls who seem to think this is actually a book club. I'll find some manner of work for them, I'm not getting people involved without their informed consent, after all.

Ah, worry not - I'll take care of contacting Gale. [ that's his nerd friend ♥ ] I'm sure he'll be as pleased as punch with a bit of revolutionary scholarship.
[ the book club bit is funny, a bit of levity to a very serious topic, and he chuckles a little, shaking his head. ]
And that just means your ruse is working, mm? So, all the better - a bit of a headache for a good cause. [ a pause, and then softer: ] How are you all faring?
[ you, alhaitham, the cafe crew. ]

[Kaveh sighs, his head shaking some.] Azul and Sherlock are...recovering about as well as I could expect them to, and Alhaitham's fairly well healed up himself now. But I imagine everyone's fairly uneasy--this situation is going to blow up sooner or later, and it doesn't take a genius to see it.
