Hello, everyone. My name is Naminé and I have a very small question for anyone willing to give an answer.

[ At first her voice starts out pretty small, but as she speaks more she seems more certain of what she wants to ask. ]

I've had some wonderful people offer to help me learn more about magic here. So I'd really like to narrow down what kind to focus on at first. Would anyone be willing to share their experience?

Either with magic they've learned here or what you may know back home! What gave you found to be the most helpful? The thing that's best helped you to protect and help your friends?

Any answer, long or small, is equally appreciated. Thank you so much.

Maybe I should feel a little bad saying this, but that's nice to hear. To know I'm not alone in not being used to it.

Internment sounds like a useful way to end something without too much violence. Those sound like very big threats you've had to face though.

[ She wants to ask a bit more about them but doesn't yet. Maybe another time. Mostly because the next spell is something that really seems to catch her attention.]

I'm glad you were able to help to free your friend. That sounds like something that could have been very useful for someone to know back home.

Well, if you think it might be useful in the future, we can work on helping you master it.

And... 'tis not a bad thing, to want to be understood. 'Tis not as though you've wished harm upon me.

'Tis... difficult when you struggle, and no one understands why, or how to make you feel better. And the words they say sometimes make you feel worse, because they don't understand, and you don't know how to help them understand.

I don't know if that makes any sense, but... I hope it helps.

A part of me feels like I might want to just learn everything I can. But I'm not sure if that's entirely realistic.

[ Maybe she's got too big of dreams, but it's nice to be able to have any really. ]

I don't think there's many people I'd really wish harm on. [ Even ones she might consider wishing negative things on are...complicated. ]

It makes a lot of sense to me. Sometimes it's also hard because you don't want to make things worse by saying the wrong thing. Or phrasing it wrong. Or not being able to tell everything.

Aye. Some things are... difficult to talk about. Speaking of them can invoke the memory of what happened, and even the memory of it can hurt.

[So, so much. Like a gaping chasm opening up in your chest.]

As for your learning, I shall help you to understand the elements and their relation to each other, and we can focus on one at a time.

For practical demonstrations, I can do the spells I mentioned just now, shackling magicks, fire, ice, dark, and light spells. And for the last two, I use holy light and gravitational darkness when fighting.

Memories can be surprisingly painful and powerful. But I also just don't want anyone to worry about me.

[ so she keeps a lot to herself. ]

Someone suggesting trying to combine my own natural abilities with elemental magic, but I'm not certain.

I'd love to see that demonstration! It sounds very impressive

[He flusters a little at the compliment, unused to such things, even if he has been complimented once or twice before, thanks to his new friends. Of course he will still need to caution her about keeping all her problems to herself, but that can wait for a little later... and a little less public a place.]

We shall get to that in time, I am sure. Oh, though if I may ask -- and 'twould be best that I do, if I am to be teaching you -- what are your natural abilities?

Oh, um...[ That's something she hasn't really talked much about since she arrived here. Then again she doesn't really talk about it much back in her own world. So now she's just left to sorta stumble over what to say. Worried about what someone might think about it. ]

To be honest, I'm not entirely certain about everything I can do. But I'm a witch that... can rearrange memories.

[Witch is not a common term amongst his people. The manipulation of memories, however, rings considerably more familiar. Though why she seems so nervous about sharing such a thing... makes Erichthonios wonder a little.

Had she once done something she regretted with those abilities? Or had there been some sort of accident involving them?]

It sounds as though you may have an affinity for controlling incorporeal aether.

That spell you took an interest in, to seperate two entities into their original selves? Identifying and separating their incorporeal aether is a large part of it.

I'm not sure if that's it. Nobody really knows the full nature of why I can do what I can. I don't think there's anyone else that can.

[ People were far more interested in using her for the abilities than figuring out how and why she could do things. ]

Do you think I might be able to learn something like that then?

I do. But we needn't rush it.

[Fundamentals first. Then the fancier stuff. He wants her to have a good, solid foundation to work from at her own pace, not feel pressured to perform.]

We actually work with memory quite a bit in some ways. My people, that is.

Oh? In what way? I hope...nothing like what I did. [ Because she still feels terrible over that. ]

Touching on Endwalker plot stuff for the spoiler-averse

We can share our memories directly with each other, or recreate them for others to witness via a projection of our aether. We can also encode them into crystallized aether.

They use a system capable of altering memories in Ktisis Hyperboreia as well... though I heard it malfunctioned recently, so I don't know if that practice shall continue as it has.

That sounds... useful.

[ and she sounds a touch sad about it. Definitely better than what she did with her own memory abilities. ]

People shouldn't alter memories.

On that we can agree. 'Tis intrusive enough to glean from another's mind without consent and to distort thoughts. Mental intrusion in general is... unpleasant, to say the least.

[He knows this from first-hand experience, as the one whose mind was tampered with.]

As I recall, the system was put into place by the current Chief Overseer of Elpis. He is not here, to my knowledge, but should he ever appear here... mayhap we could convince him to reconsider using it.

[ That she never had intruded in someone's thoughts. But she's a bit too ashamed to admit that so she just trails off. ]

He would likely have robes and a mask much like what you see upon me now, and despite this place's... propensity for altering our bodies, I imagine he will still be very tall compared to most others here.

In addition to sealing away some of our magicks, 'twould seem as though our height was also... problematic to this place, I suppose.

I've not been this small since I was a child.

[ That makes her look vaguely amused. ] Really? And here I've been thinking you were tall!

I assure you, I am quite a bit taller normally.

Though I suppose this world did extend one small mercy by shrinking my belongings by the same ratio as it did me. If it had not, I could have made a tent of my robes and had a poppet half my size! 'Twould have been far more difficult to carry it around with me...

[Somehow, her cheer makes the hurt of being changed so sting a little less.]

That would have been very inconvenient. It must feel very strange for you to be so small. Unless you just don't notice much because everything is the same size?

'Tis less noticeable upon the water than upon land, but I fear the experience of waking is often a little disorienting. I adjust little by little throughout the day.

The shape of some of the buildings almost makes me feel big again, given how small the doorways are. And the ceiling heights. If I weren't so nervous around people, I might spend more times indoors, but I... often feel like I am intruding in others' spaces.

I'm glad you're adjusting, even if it's just little by little. I guess you could say I am too in a way.

Has anyone made you feel that way? Or is it just a feeling you get?

I... Mayhap 'tis a remnant of earlier times. I was... very isolated, in childhood. Most of my life, I have lived in Pandaemonium amongst the warders and keywards, and the creations. I don't really know how to talk to people all that well.

I'm sorry to hear that. I was locked up for most of my life too without people to talk to. It's very lonely.
