[open] voice , a little magic question

Hello, everyone. My name is Naminé and I have a very small question for anyone willing to give an answer.
[ At first her voice starts out pretty small, but as she speaks more she seems more certain of what she wants to ask. ]
I've had some wonderful people offer to help me learn more about magic here. So I'd really like to narrow down what kind to focus on at first. Would anyone be willing to share their experience?
Either with magic they've learned here or what you may know back home! What gave you found to be the most helpful? The thing that's best helped you to protect and help your friends?
Any answer, long or small, is equally appreciated. Thank you so much.

Does any magic come to you naturally? That's probably the best place to start. You gotta start small, and then grow into it.
[okay Mr "go big or go home". but he's definitely aware that his training... wasn't the ideal way to learn. at all.]

G'raha Tia is exceptionally talented and a scholar himself, so if he sees this he'd probably be more than happy to assist you.
Gale Dekarios is a wizard and loves the study of his craft, so I imagine he'll also enjoy teaching it, and eloquent as he is, he's likely a phenomenal teacher even if he gets off topic. He also comes with a highly rated teaching assistant in Miss Tara, though be careful not to call her a cat! She doesn't like it, and we must treat distinguished ladies with respect. I also expect them to comment on this if they check the network today.
Azul is quite knowledgeable about magic theory and a skilled alchemist...he might not be as enthusiastic to assist, but he'd probably be willing to help tutor you for a fee, if I haven't misread him, and he doesn't usually ask an unreasonable price for reasonable requests.
...[Kaveh pauses for a moment, and since this is a voice response and not video, Namine doesn't have to see the shadow passing over his face.] I'm afraid the other person I'd have recommended seems to have...returned home fairly recently.
no subject
I've had some wonderful offers for teaching already, I just wanted to hear more about what's been the most helpful for people.
Though I'm sure I'd be happy to hear from all of them with anything they'd want to talk about. I'll remember to not call Miss Tara a cat! Thank you for the tip
Oh. I'm sorry about the person that's returned home. Were they a friend?
no subject
[Kaveh sighs.] Yes...he was a regular at the cafe too. He never talked too much about the world he came from, but he seemed like a lonely soul...he reminded me a lot of my husband, when we were that age.

[He smiles warmly. She's a good girl, and he already feels a little proud of her.]
May I answer your question as well? Or would you like to gather ideas from other minds first?
no subject
[ Someone tell her there is no right way to talk to people. ]
Of course! I think your answer would be at the top of my list of valuable answers.
Spoilers for Pandæmonium raids
[Isolated as he was as a child.]
But, from what I can tell, you're doing wonderfully.
As for the answer to your question... 'twould be two spells. The first is called Internment, and allowed me to trap very powerful creations and entities that were a threat to my friends and the star itself. It freezes the target of the spell in place as well as the space around them, so they cannot hurt themself or others.
The second... we have not come up with a name for it yet, I think, but it allows one to separate the aetherial essences -- corporeal and incorporeal -- of an entity that has mingled with that of a person, all without harming the person the entity was attached to, returning them to how they were before it merged with them. 'Twas how we managed to save Keyward Hegemone from the fate of being merged with a parasitic creation.
She's doing much better now.

[He tilts his head.]
Uh, I know all sorts of magic, though. I don't think I've ever focused on one little thing. A little bit of everything is good, too?
no subject
Are you sure? You've already helped me with so much. [ She pauses thoughtfully ]
Do you have a favorite of the ones you use?
no subject
I guess that's what happens more often than not when you're surrounded by a bunch of water, huh?
[He nods.]
I don't mind helping you, though! I'd love to! My favourite magic would probably be... Stuff like firaga, waterga and thundaga. Anything that makes a huge boom, you know?
[Of course Sora's more favourite spells are the big, loud and destructive ones. For such a cute boy, he packs way too much destructive power. And he likes it!]

You could learn a wide range, or you could try to specialize your magic. Like the way I've mixed magic with my ability to wield darkness. I know you don't want to use the abilities you already have, but you could try leaning into it a little.
[ A thoughtful hum.]
Water magic would suit you, I think. There's a lot you could do with water, both attacking and protecting. Then using water in tandem with your own abilities, to create illusions. Like Demyx and his water clones.
no subject
[ It's something she does find admirable about him, impressive really.
She pauses herself and her voice is softer when she speaks again. ]
That's strange you'd suggest that, it was actually something I was thinking about myself. I even thought about Demyx's clones and wondered if I could learn to make something like that. They seem like they'd be helpful for someone whose not really physically strong.
no subject
[ So nothing is stopping her from doing the same. From taking an ability she had and making it into something she'd actually want to use.
Riku honestly thinks she could take water magic and mix it with her ability to manipulate memories to make her own kind of new magic. ]
Water clones could fight for you and act as protection. Or use water to make illusions to fool opponents into seeing something that isn't really there.

This is information I got Cid Telamon when I asked about magic. Others have found it helpful.
"For defense, any element could be used, however EARTH would be a common choice. The ability conjure rock walls and shields would certainly be a boon, and you could create your own protective armor. Go further and attune more with NATURE and you could utilize your environment, such as the trees or even animals to come to your aid. I believe it's a common element for herbalists and healers to use, so you could expand into healing or medicine as well.
AIR is another potential as you can use the winds to escape. Learn to fly or boost your speed, and the winds themselves can prove a formidable shield to cut opponents or create fogs to obscure. There is also the wind itself to help blow back your foes. You can also try to listen to nearby conversations, create little sprites to help gather information.
A DARK based element such as utilizing shadows is another option. I'm not as familiar, but from what I've seen while and with just some big of imagination, you could perhaps use shadows and darkness to obscure or hide yourself, or blind your opponents to allow for a chance to escape. I know many who are more into thievery utilize such tricks.
LIGHT would work similar. I think HOLY is in the same family, and have better access to healing spells. However, any element can heal. I haven't done much but with my LIGHTNING I can help numb and accelerate the natural healing regeneration through the electrical stimulation.
WATER could also be useful, especially when you have so much around us. It wouldn't be so impossible to use the oceans or even create some rain, though harnessing an element is not the same as controlling the weather. Healing is also predominant with water. Think of cleansing impurities and washing away

"WATER could also be useful, especially when you have so much around us. It wouldn't be so impossible to use the oceans or even create some rain, though harnessing an element is not the same as controlling the weather. Healing is also predominant with water. Think of cleansing impurities and washing away wounds. Water users tend to find it easier after those who can use light. But also consider water bubbles that could shield you or creating large waves to push away your foes. ICE may also be a consideration, and there you would have something more solid to work. In my world the two elements are separate, but here there seems to be more overlap to allow the use of both.
As for light and dark as elements, I suppose it seems natural for me since they exist in my world. I will say this world seems a lot more flexible when it comes to their magic and how the elements are used and mixed together, and you could be creative in how you use it as well."
I eventually chose to learn light magic.

[ His voice is cheerful, with a very notable rural accent. ]
I've been learning what I can about the kind here. Plant magic, and more recently water. Can't say I'm a master of either, yet, but it's comin' along alright.
[ But neither has actually served to protect people yet. He's hoping for that to change. ]

I knew someone back home who could use a kind of planet magic, I think. Or at least he favored flowers and vines. [ She doesn't love thinking about him really. ]

Before I talk about my own studies though, may I ask what you wish to gain the most from learning about magic here? Is there a particular dream that you are trying to accomplish, or... ah, you did say you would be interested in hearing about something that contributes to "protecting and helping your friends"... in that case, perhaps I should rephrase my question to ask for a clarification on what that means for you here? Are you wanting to learn defensive or supportive magic for that type of purpose, or is there something else that you have in mind when you think about magic to accomplish that goal?
no subject
I think those are the questions I'm trying to answer myself. I'd like to be able to take a more active role in helping to keep my friends safe.

However, should you need a different form of magic, one that's a little less for offence and more of a spectacle... I can always show you a little stage magic.
[Lyney knows she probably doesn't mean THAT kind of magic, but he can be playful.]
