Hello, everyone. My name is Naminé and I have a very small question for anyone willing to give an answer.
[ At first her voice starts out pretty small, but as she speaks more she seems more certain of what she wants to ask. ]
I've had some wonderful people offer to help me learn more about magic here. So I'd really like to narrow down what kind to focus on at first. Would anyone be willing to share their experience?
Either with magic they've learned here or what you may know back home! What gave you found to be the most helpful? The thing that's best helped you to protect and help your friends?
Any answer, long or small, is equally appreciated. Thank you so much.

"WATER could also be useful, especially when you have so much around us. It wouldn't be so impossible to use the oceans or even create some rain, though harnessing an element is not the same as controlling the weather. Healing is also predominant with water. Think of cleansing impurities and washing away wounds. Water users tend to find it easier after those who can use light. But also consider water bubbles that could shield you or creating large waves to push away your foes. ICE may also be a consideration, and there you would have something more solid to work. In my world the two elements are separate, but here there seems to be more overlap to allow the use of both.
As for light and dark as elements, I suppose it seems natural for me since they exist in my world. I will say this world seems a lot more flexible when it comes to their magic and how the elements are used and mixed together, and you could be creative in how you use it as well."
I eventually chose to learn light magic.

I'm sort of familiar with Darkness and that sounds similar to what I know. Sort of.
Water sounds really appealing though. What made you gravitate to light?

[ Not impossible but for someone who gets seasick, the trade off is not worth the trouble. (He's thinking of a physical file: a folder with papers.) ]
It was something a friend spoke of that helped me decide to pursue light magic. She chose something contrary to her nature, shall we say, and used it as a way to regain something she had lost. I decided to do something similar.
[ Also, Sherlock cannot agree that water sounds appealing, but that is also the trauma speaking. ]

[ maybe she does need to play around with it a bit more! she never really got a chance to use too much technology back home really. ]
That's an interesting outlook. Does that mean you saw darkness as similar to your nature?

[ It sounds like that's exactly what he's doing. He has saved a copy (in his casebook) and brings it up to copy to other people here. Sherlock is not aware this is a computer (person) and computer (machine) issue. ]
Regardless, I find myself among the darkest of criminals and circumstances through my line of work.
[ Along with his own dark secrets and fears. It is all too easy for Sherlock to view himself as an inhabitant of the darkness. ]
To choose light is to oppose that in hopes of finding my way out.

[ The majority of them seem to involve a murder and Sherlock trying to make sure the victim (the real victim) got justice. ]

My light magic has helped in my investigations as I can recreate the scene by sketching it out in light.

I used to draw to help with my own abilities back in my world.

If you draw, have you made your way to Seal & Cant on Eltrut? They have been very helpful whenever I need to procure a samples for my investigations.
[ They let him burn various paper scraps and cut offs for his ash studies. ]

I haven't yet! I have to admit I haven't really gotten anything for myself since my arrival here. But maybe I should change that.

[ He knows he can make his light projections move, but he doesn't know what made that possible. There is still so much he doesn't understand about how the magic has manifested in him. ]

But don't worry, I won't put pressure on someone to teach me anything

While it would delay any mastery of an element, it might allow you to try them out or at least change if you decide your previous element does not serve your needs.

I'm pretty sure I at least know one element I want to try though!
