Hello, everyone. My name is Naminé and I have a very small question for anyone willing to give an answer.

[ At first her voice starts out pretty small, but as she speaks more she seems more certain of what she wants to ask. ]

I've had some wonderful people offer to help me learn more about magic here. So I'd really like to narrow down what kind to focus on at first. Would anyone be willing to share their experience?

Either with magic they've learned here or what you may know back home! What gave you found to be the most helpful? The thing that's best helped you to protect and help your friends?

Any answer, long or small, is equally appreciated. Thank you so much.

I can't say I know anything about magic, but I do know about having an unusual ability and what the approach is to harness it. There's some general guidelines because in my world abilities are extremely varied.

They're not considered magic in my world though.

What do you consider them if not magic then?

[velocityraptor]

That's a good question. They're abilities that go beyond human limits, but they're genetically linked. It's in our DNA.

We call them quirks and the gene the quirk factor.

Oh, so it has to do with science? I've never had a good experience with that.

[velocityraptor]

Only in as much as you have to understand that parents pass things down to their kids, like their hair or eye colour, or in my world, abilities. Kids tend to have an ability from one parent or the other, rarely it's a mix of both, or even rarer a total mutation and it's something else. That's it. I don't know technical details anyway.

That much I do understand even if I don't have direct experience with it. Exactly.

At least that must mean that parents can help their kids learn their abilities, right?

[velocityraptor]

In most cases, that's correct. In my case, my abilities were very different from my parents' because it's kind of a combination of both.

How have you learned then? Trial and error?

[velocityraptor]

My abilities are a mix of instincts and trial and error and some really unethical training practices I wouldn't recommend.

[obliviscere]

Unethical? What does that mean?

[velocityraptor]

It means that what they asked me to do was not done with good intentions, nor was it appropriate for someone my age. They were just using me.

[obliviscere]

I'm sorry. A group did that to me too so I know it's not easy.

[velocityraptor]

Yeah. It's not great, but they're dead now and pretty much done for the time being.

[obliviscere]

It'd be bad to say I'm glad they're dead but...

I'm at least glad they're done. I hope that also means you're free.

[velocityraptor]

I'm pretty indifferent to it. I didn't want them to die, and I wasn't going to kill them, but I'm not sorry it happened. [ He knows that's a flaw of his. ]

I am now, I never thought it would happen so I don't know what to do with it.

I understand that completely. It's how it is for me here. It's sort of overwhelming

Yeah, kind of. I'm not sure what to make of it, I don't think I've ever had the choice. I guess now it really depends on who I am.

For me, I think now its about trying to figure out who I really am.
