Hello, everyone. My name is Naminé and I have a very small question for anyone willing to give an answer.

[ At first her voice starts out pretty small, but as she speaks more she seems more certain of what she wants to ask. ]

I've had some wonderful people offer to help me learn more about magic here. So I'd really like to narrow down what kind to focus on at first. Would anyone be willing to share their experience?

Either with magic they've learned here or what you may know back home! What gave you found to be the most helpful? The thing that's best helped you to protect and help your friends?

Any answer, long or small, is equally appreciated. Thank you so much.

I don't really know precisely where his affinity for it came from. [ Actually, now that she thinks about it she's not sure where anyone's affinity for their type of magic came from. Interesting to think on. ]

That is very different from any magic I've heard of before. What are the gods like?

Depends on the god, I suppose. And what people like to think about them. How people interpret their will and their whims, if they really have such a thing.

[ A little pause. ]

Forces of nature, or hungering beasts, or tamed and collared corporate mascots.

[ He sounds sort of matter-of-fact, and sort of tired. There's not a lot of respect there. ]

Have you ever met one?

[ He's used to questions, but he hasn't gotten that one so much. There's a little pause, because oddly despite how objectively real the gods are, that's still a complicated question.

...Did he meet the Trawler-man? Did he dream that he did? Can he trust his own childhood memories? Was it only ever his own reflection?

Not that he says any of this. ]

I've... crossed paths with a few. What you meet are usually their angels, their saints, their servants or the signs of their power in the world.

That must be interesting, to meet them. Though I wonder why they send other people so often rather than just interact themselves.

[ That gets a faint laugh. ]

You say other people like the gods are people themselves. They aren't. They're... something else.

[ People still ascribe understandable motives to their actions, of course. Treat them like people. At this point he suspects they're little but hungering maws hiding beneath a veneer of whatever their followers want to imagine they're hearing. ]

And they're largely somewhere else. Their haunts aren't exactly in the world. Nor is it usually people they're sending. Angels are... it's simplest to say they're akin to animals.

[ It's a broad and complicated category, but that gets the point across. ]

I see. As much as I can without experiencing it myself. They all sound very intimidating if not interesting.

They mostly are, yes. I'll admit I think I prefer the way things work here.

Yes. It takes... practice. Doesn't feel as precise as learning a language. But I think I prefer the freedom, all the same.

Freedom is the nicest part about this place in general. At least from my perspective.

[ But maybe this conversation is a bit too serious, all things considered. ]

I mean, personally my dog an' my boyfriend are pretty high on that list, too. There's a good few nice things.

I'm glad you've got both of them! Did you meet here or back in your own home?

Here, on both counts. Everythin' nice here is... new. I've yet to run into anyone else from my world.

I'm glad you've been able to make connections like that here! But I'm sorry nobody from your world has arrived.

It's alright. There's not too many people I'm fussed about seein' again, if I'm perfectly honest.
