While no longer employed, they were once very popular with infantry second lines. They were often greater than eight fulms in length, affording the pikemen the reach necessary to pull cavalry from mounts then follow up with a swift overhead arch with the shortest spike leading to finish the rider. It was brutal, but quite efficient.

Oooh, think I got it. Still a bit weird, but I have to admit its usefulness in being able to capture something immediately. Better than sitting for an hour for someone to paint a portrait or something, haha!
