But if you MUST know, I look to the soul rather than a physical body part.

The soul!? How can you see a soul?! It's not like someone's face or their body!!

The soul is as much a part of a living being as any physical feature. They would not be truly alive without one. Even the animals you see in the wild have souls.

Why is my being able to see souls so far-fetched to you? YOU told me you resurrected after being chopped into pieces.

I should think my being able to see souls perfectly NORMAL in comparison to your being chopped up and returning to life.

[ He gives up trying to clarify what he actually means. Clearly this boy will misinterpret him. Again! ]

[ Unsurprisingly, Emet-Selch shows up to the spot in brisk time. He doesn't mind if he has to wait a little while for Denji to show up - although he will get irritable if it's longer than an hour. In the meantime, he'll gaze out over the sea and watch the ships come and go, lost in thought. ]

[It didn't take the feral teenager too long to make his way down to the docks where Emet-Selch had been patiently waiting for him. Although they had never officially met face to face Denji was pretty sure the male who waywardly starred out at sea looking deep in thought had to be the guy.

With his hands folded at the back of his neck the boy casually whistles as he approaches the other without a care in the world.]

Yo! That you Emet-Selch?!

[ It does occur to the Ascian, at some point, that he hadn't given a description of himself - too used to being recognised on sight. Just as he began to reach for his shellphone again, a whistle catches his attention. When he turns, his eyes quickly find Denji in the midst of the crowd.

...Ah. Their soul is almost exactly like he'd expect. A strong, forceful fiery thing that could as easily consume everything in its path as keep a person warm. ]

You have such a terribly predictable soul, [ he sighs. ] Well, I suppose your type are honest.

[Denji had barely waltzed up to meet the guy face to face and he was already able to see into his soul? Here he thought it would have taken some sort of magical spell or some shit but apparently Emet-Selch could just spot him out in a sea of people and read him like a book. A tilt of his head is given curiously as he rubs the back of his neck in mild confusion.]

Wait- What you mean by that!?

[A brief pause as his hands curl tightly into fists with a look of pure determination crossing his face.]

Tell me more man I wanna know what you can see in my soul!

[Would he be able to see Pochita inside him too!?]

[ His Soulsight isn't typically something paraded out for entertainment so he shoots the boy a disapproving frown. But fine - they seem the earnest sort so he supposes he can indulge them.

He takes a little longer look to really drink in the details, and then-- ]

How to describe this in a language you would understand...? Your soul burns brightly and fiercely indeed yet it isn't as clear as it could be. It wavers. Mayhap you strain to unleash your full potential or something holds it back. 'Tis as though you've unwittingly wrapped chains about your heart and it strains against them.

[ A pause. He double checks to be sure of what he's seeing and then adds: ]

It doesn't feel wholly yours either. I presume 'tis the result of whatever creature it was that gave you its life.

[Denji understands most of what the other says nodding in understanding with a slack jawed expression drinking it all in. So Emet-Selch can tell he's super confident in himself but sometimes he falters a bit? That much was certainly true but it isn't until that last part his expression changes, blinking wide as his eyes light up at the mention of the 'creature' inside him. Could he truly sense Pochita's presence!?]

You know there's something inside me!?

[Here is hoping he can tell him what Pochita is feeling about how the teenager has been living his life, trying to fulfill the promise he made by sharing his outlandish dreams with his former pet devil who bestowed their heart to save him from the brink of death.]

You mentioned being revived when your 'pet devil' gave you its heart. There is a presence which doesn't quite match your own so I presume that's your devil.

[ It's obvious to someone with his eyes, he thinks. ]

All things considered, you appear to have merged almost seamlessly. Which is good for you, I suppose. 'Tis not nearly so simple in my world. Mayhap your being hacked to pieces beforehand helped.

Yeah that's gotta be him!!

[It fills Denji with a sense of warmth knowing that Pochita was indeed alive within him after Emet-Selch's confirmation, worried his best friend's life had been snuffed out completely after bestowing its heart unto him. A hand clutches his chest where his heart would be causing the boy to well up with pride at the mention of perfectly merging together as one, a bit of tears forming in the corner of his eyes getting a bit emotional, using the back of his hand to remedy them before they threatened to spill forth onto his cheeks sniffling a bit. They were tears of joy at the very least as it was a monumental occasion hearing his beloved pet devil who sacrificed its life to save his own was still in some semblance alive and well.]

That- That is so awesome...I'm glad he is happy.

[ Emet-Selch is not sure how to handle this emotional outburst. He hesitates, awkward, before crossing his arms and looking aside. ]

Reading souls is not the same as reading emotion, just so you know. But if it brings you comfort then I suppose that's good.

[ People are usually uncomfortable with the fact he can understand someone so thoroughly at a glance. Not this boy though? ]

[Just knowing that Pochita lived on inside him and the pair had been unified as one rather than simply killing his best friend in the process of bestowing its heart unto him was enough, Denji thankful for that much at the very least given Emet-Selch's rather extraordinary gift. For too long had the boy been worried if he'd been making Pochita proud and if the pair had seamlessly been fused as one it would appear they were a made to be with each other after all the hardship they had endured together through their shitty lives.

Nodding his head slowly at the latter sentiment the teenager smiles sincerely at his counterpart followed in short by a small burst of laughter. He won't soon forget this moment, super glad he took the other up on his offer to peer into his soul.]

Still though! You told me that Pochita and I are together which is all that really matters to me. I was worried he just up and died when he gave me his heart but now I know for sure that he lives on inside me.

[The briefest of pauses.]
