A curious question to my fellow riftfarers — to those who are capable of "summoning" or calling upon powerful beings or even people, how does it work in your world? Any particular requirements? Contracts?

And have you any luck doing so while here? Any changes you've discovered?

[This is a general broadcast type post, so anyone can threadhop if they'd like to swap stories or anything! Cid will be reading everything...with very keen interest.]

In case you're wondering what this is about, while on that ghost ship a girl somehow managed to summon me from a rock she had—materia she called it. She also knew about Ramuh and some of the other Eikons from our world.

Given there was no warning and that she might not be the only one, thought I should give everyone a heads up. For now I'll be trying some tests with her to see how it works and will share the results.

I do, yeah. Sort of. We're from the same world, at least, but can't say I really know her. Only just met.

She hasn't caused you any trouble, has she?

So, what exactly are you trying to tell me with an ID name like that? That I'm talking to "Ramuh", that one legend from the stories? And that Yuffie, judging from her messages, summoned you?

So, you're saying that if I tried to use my materia, I risk calling someone else, just like she did you?

Unfortunately that does seem to be the case. And you're likely to hear from them about this.

There was something that Jill said... but it was still pretty vague. Something about his safety? And the last thing I want is to hurt anyone when trying to use it, but I don't have a whole lot of information to go off of.

It's not like I'm going out looking for reasons to!

But if it comes down to it, you'd be surprised how helpful they can be in a pinch.

I'm fully aware how powerful Ifrit's powers can be.

You may not get the results you're expecting here, though.

And so what results should I be expecting if I ever need to use it?

Me, for starters.

There's already been an incident of summoning amongst the people I know, so if you were to use that rock it's likely to do the same for me.

Wait, so you're Ifrit?

Not by choice, but it was something I've learned to accept.

Ifrit's flames burn different since my arrival here, though. The spark is weaker, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to fight.

So, you're the friend Jill was telling me about. Would've accidentally summoned you, huh?

Still not sure I understand how this all works or what that means, but good thing I didn't that one time I thought about it. Would've thrown you at a bunch of angry sirens.

I wasn't planning on using it if I didn't have to, but maybe not anymore...

I'm almost afraid to ask why.

It's quite the long and involved story, one that is truly not mine to tell.

[Well, at least Ifrit's side, but Jill is the narrator for Shiva's tale if that ever comes up.]

It's just that it concerns someone I care greatly for and his safety and happiness is of the utmost importance to me.

[You see, Ifrit is technically inside her boyfriend and...]

Well, if someone would tell me, that's be great. It isn't going to hurt him, is it?

He'll have to tell you more himself. But I can at least answer your question and say there's a possibility it may.

[Aside from the curse making this situation much more difficult than it already is (even if it doesn't seem to exist here), there's also her worry that Clive will be dragged into a battle he's unprepared for. He's strong, yes, but not invincible.

That and haven't they all had enough of being told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it? She know she has and Jill knows Clive well enough to know he has too.]

I am asking for a lot here, and please forgive my presumption, but I'd rather be rude than allow problems to happen for him by remaining silent.

No, you're not being rude at all. I haven't known Yuffie for long but she doesn't strike me as the sort of person who would do it knowing what would happen. Nor would the rest of us that have them.

I don't want to hurt anyone. Better that we know than not, yeah?

[Though, there is something that has been on her mind.]

Does it by any chance have anything to do with what you told me?

While I cannot tell you his story, I can tell you mine. But not like this, over these shellphones.
