TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

I want to hear the stories behind the ones that are true.

My guess is a wild one, but is 1 the lie?

Yes, it is. My flatmate never believed me, and in this case, I will admit that he was correct. The bookshop owner was not trying to kill me.

All of them are equally believable, honestly. They match each other in the sense of "oh this could be, but maybe not."

So I want to know the story behind the punching.

My case was to find a stolen painting, and while this man was not involved in the theft, you could say he was involved in the painting's creation as a reference. The man harmed an innocent woman and showed no remorse at all for having done so. I would say that my anger got the better of me, but there was no real way the man could be brought to justice when his vile acts were done against someone who had no means of fighting back. No one would believe a refugee over a decorated British Envoy. Indeed, he later even tried to absolve himself of any responsibility by claiming he was impaired at the time.

[ Sherlock doesn't want to go into details about what the man did because it was horrible. And would need CWs Needless to say, the man deserved that punch and more. ]

You know what? I would probably have punched him too.

No matter how I look at it, I cannot see myself reacting any other way. He needed to be punched.

Thankfully, the man is no longer be able to hurt anyone. Before I came to this world, I read an article saying he was murdered.

Well, that's convenient.

Any idea who might've done it?

I suspect her people did.

Although given he was stabbed in the back and how he tried to deny responsibility of his crime because of the nature of the gathering, I would not be surprised if instead he attended a party that had gotten out of control. The government could try to cover it up to save face as a decorated official of theirs could not possibly be caught in such a scandal publicly.

Well if he had been stabbed in the back, I would probably put my wager on "her people."

Parties, even when they are out of control, don't usually end with a person being stabbed in the back. The front or side or accident, maybe. The back is more deliberate.

While unlikely, it is still possible. Some of the parties held rituals where they pretend stab each other for some fertility rite or another. Impaired, they could easily choose the wrong prop to do the deed.

[ Or purposely choose the wrong prop and try to hide it as an accident. ]
