TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

Two truths and a lie, huh...

Alright!

Okay first! My first crush was a woman in the knighthood and one of my first jobs as an apprentice was making her armor which required precise measurements. I spent the following week patching my adopted father’s roof after I threw a hammer through it. My Old man has yet to let me live it down.

Second! Before I arrived here, I was approached by a fortune teller who somehow managed to pick up on my most closely guarded secret. Naturally, I was calm about it and in no way did I immediately destroy her stall in a panic. After that, she wouldn't leave me alone and followed me all the way to Eruyeka where my brother kinda accidentally proved her entire fortune was accurate.

And third! Back when I was still figuring out how to hide my abilities, I dyed my hair black to try and hide it from people. I figured if I looked normal, no one would question it. I had black hair for about six months before I decided to give it up.

1) I once out-calibrated an artificial intelligence hivemind. Out of spite. 2) My homeworld has no insect life. 3) I learned “the tango”

1) Once killed a pile of tentacles the size of a hill with lamp oil.

2) I’m compiling a monster bestiary for this place.

3) I can see in the dark.

1: i'm the youngest in my crew back home. probably my crew here, too, actually....

2: i accidentally killed my first mentor by giving him a poisoned mushroom when i was trying to help him get better.

3: my bounty is the biggest of my crew back home!

[Look who's learned the network finally, but isn't sure how to answer this game. Thanks Sherlock. But stay with him, he's slow typing.]

1. I've never had a job that didn't get complicated. Something always goes wrong.

2. Had a client rat me out to a literal demon once.

3. Found a book based on one of my old cases. Read it for book club one night. It had everything, even a romantic subplot.

1. I only started having dreams about three years ago.
2. I sold my childhood home and gave up all my wealth in pursuit of my ideals.
3. I have never once started a bar fight over architectural principles of design.

[These definitely aren't as obvious as last time, right...? Right. Surely no one besides Alhaitham will get it right immediately.]

3. I have a really big family with lots of brothers and sisters.

I do enjoy this game. Let us see if anyone can guess correctly.

1. Magic is one of the strongest skillsets I possess.

2. For nine decades I waited in a different "reality" to save a friend of mine.

3. I assisted in mounting a cannon onto a train so that we could crash it safely.

1. I married the love of my life under the Ghoul Moon.

2. Being the youngest of my siblings, I was spoiled rotten by everyone so I turned into a brat.

3. My old man once tied me to the back of a horse and sent it running because I was misbehaving.

[ Considering Sherlock first interacted with his later best friend this way, he can't help but have some fondness for it. Now what to pick... He also considers some of his "tells" from last time and aims make it harder. ]

1. I once tried to convince my flatmate that the bookshop owner down the street was trying to kill me with a poisoned cactus needle. He believed me without question.

2. I have punched a high ranking government official in the face upon first meeting him and before I even introduced myself. I would do so again in a heartbeat if ever given the chance.

3. I have made someone steal and dress in a drunkard's clothes to gain access to a jewelry show by pretending to be him. We never did return the man's clothing to him.

1. My hair is actually purple.
2. My official title is Lady Hellofishies, given to me by a prince of chickens in my world.
3. To prove a point I encouraged my friends to put our powers together to punch a hole in reality. All that did was drown our world though. So now it's like this place.

1. I've never been particularly fond of mornings.

2. Clive likes to pretend it never happened, but... I did knock him off his feet. Once. Possibly twice. Not that I'd ever boast.

3. For all I've been taught, the water still eludes me. I... don't actually know how to swim.

1. I was resurrected once by my older brother who can warp reality. He's also very fond of rubber duckies and walking around in nothing but his underwear.
2. I met an Ogre in the Forest of Sorrows who would buy sorrow from you to feed to the forest itself.
3. The only job I've ever had has been working for various superhero teams.

I'm not sure I'll be any good at this but I'll try!

1. I've only ever done good things with my powers.
2. I really like to draw even if I'm not that great at it. I'm also really not fantastic at sewing.
3. A tiny part of me is jealous of everyone that can summon a keyblade.

1. A guy ate my hair once.

2. I can run up 59 flights of stairs without breaking a sweat.

3. I took down a giant dragon solo. One on one, no big deal! Didn't even miss dinner.

1. I can summon a giant pirate ship out of nowhere!

2. I spent a whole week as a lion cub, once!

3. I was the first one to have my keyblade.

A strange diversion, but possibly amusing. Alright, then!

1. I was not born a prince.
2. Before arriving here, I had never sailed.
3. There are several bardic songs about me.

1. I have three brains.
2. My ideal first date is skydiving.
3. I am an international jewel thief.

I discarded my mortal flesh, crossed thirteen other worlds, and waited over twelve millennia to see a dear friend again. [ Up yours, Exarch. ]

I have been to and seen the edges of the universe.

My aforementioned friend fought a volcano to save a vineyard.

What a wonderful little game! Here, allow me:

3. I have more siblings than fingers and toes combined
