TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

As amusing as it would be to hear you getting into a bar fight, I'm afraid you wouldn't be the kind of person to instigate such a brawl.

Although that makes me quite concerned about your financial livelihood back in Teyvat.

[FINALLY! FINALLY SOMEONE DIDN'T GET IT RIGHT IMMEDIATELY! YOU SEE THAT, ALHAITHAM?!]

how so?

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're not the kind of person who strikes me to start a whole bar fight over something.

Heated debates, I could see. I could even see you get into yelling matches. But full on bar fights seem like something you'd rather avoid.

I meant, why are you so worried about my finances? I've been doing fine lately.

[He is conspicuously not addressing his attitude about barfights and praying alhaitham's dislike of lyney lets him get away with this--]
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Hmmm...)

It's not every day you hear someone give up all their wealth, especially over one's ideals. It's a noble goal, but the world is a cruel place. Without any means of taking care of yourself, you're sure to come across others who could take advantage of you. So if you have no mora, would that not leave you vulnerable?

[Please hold, Kaveh is bodily elbowing Alhaitham.]

If that's indeed what I've done, then I'm sure I knew exactly what the risks were when I chose to do it. Whatever it cost me...to see a dream made manifest, it would have been worth a thousand times that price.

I've never regretted it, not even for a moment.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Isn't that right?)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-08 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wow… honestly, Lyney has to take a minute or two to read that response over, and then read it again just to make sure. In the end, he chuckles as he replies.]

You really are a wonder, Kaveh, did you know that?

Truthfully I don’t think I’ve met a more altruistic man than you before. Such actions usually come with some sort of cost or expectation among the higher nobles of the Court of Fontaine, so I find your words surprisingly refreshing.

[Sure it’s a little out of the scope of this game they’re playing, but Lyney wants to comment on it regardless.]

[Lyney can't see it, but Kaveh blushed. HMMPH.]

...It's not really something I'd consider that praiseworthy. I have ideals I wish to see realized, and a better world I wish to one day become reality. If I'm not willing to act according to my own principles...if I'm not willing to put those ideals into action, wouldn't my dreams just be hollow?
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Magic should be mysterious)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-08 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
On the contrary, I think it’s incredibly praiseworthy. You found an ideal that you believe in, and stick to it no matter what. Many people are easily shaken by temptation or expectation, so to find someone willing to step above that for the sake of their ideals is quite refreshing.

My old mentor would always say that the world is full of lies and falsehoods, and that we have to find our own truths to live by. It sounds to me like you’ve found yours.

[Kaveh is quiet for a while. He feels uncomfortable with that praise, knowing how he came to have those ideals, but...

"How has realizing your ideals gone for you?"

If he was asked that now...he'd have to say it worked out pretty well, wouldn't he?]

I suppose you could call it that.

But you haven't picked which you think is the lie, Lyney.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Let the show commence!)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-09 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well, by process of elimination, that means 1 would have to be the lie.

I'm afraid not. Counting the time I've been here, it's been two years and 11 months since I started having dreams again. I stopped having them pretty young, come to think of it.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (?)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-09 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that so? And here I thought the idea that those from Sumeru didn’t dream was a myth.

Wait… so you HAVE started a bar fight??

It would seem that way to other nations, especially since traveling driyosh would start to dream again once they left the Akasha's range.

I'm afraid I can't take responsibility for my actions when some stuffed-shirt Vahumana third-year decides to assert anyone can do architecture by just having the Akasha generate plans from old filings.

[His actions in this case having been a bitchslap.]
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (How quaint)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-14 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
So your inability to dream is due to this Akasha?

Goodness, Kaveh! I knew you were passionate about your beliefs, but I didn't peg you to defend them so fiercely! A part of me almost wishes I could see that altercation in person!

[To be fair, Lyney HAD seen how fiercely Kaveh went into things when they teamed up to rescue the kidnapped riftfarers. Perhaps it's not so surprising after all.]
