TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

As much fun as it is to deduce the lie from one of these, the fact that any two of them would be true means you lead quite the life, Sherlock!

If I had to guess, the lie is 1. But I want to hear the story of the others nonetheless.

The lie is number one. Watson did not believe my claims that someone attempted to assassinate me. He was right. The bookshop owner did not try to assassinate me, knowingly or not.

Instead, he was clumsily trying to court the woman from the flower shop across the street from him, and my newspaper, ruined with soil and cactus spines, was an unintended casualty. I told him to just talk to the woman and spare himself (and everyone else) the turmoil.

That is the story, more or less, for the first. Which one did you wish to know next?

Goodness, what a wild turn of events! Though it sounds like all turned out well in the end, and you even managed to help that poor bookshop owner with his problems!

I would be happy to hear the story of your other two choices.

[ Sherlock, even when very annoyed with someone, is still a shipper who wants couples to be happy together. ]

For the second one, my case lead me to investigate a stolen painting, which had a reference photo involving the government official doing a horrible act against a woman. He had never been charged with the crime, and what police would have believed a refugee woman's claim of what a celebrated official had done? She could receive no justice.

I knew all that before meeting the man, and when he showed no remorse over what he had done, I punched him. Indeed after I had punched him, he even tried to deny responsibility for his actions because he had been at a party and partook of drugs or alcohol. He deserved that punch and more.

[ Specific details require cws are of a dark nature. Unless Lyney asks for them, he won't offer. Even Jon sketched the important parts of the photograph which could be followed up on and erased Sherlock's memory of what he saw. ]

Ah, I see.

I for one don't blame you for taking such actions against that man. By the sounds of it, he certainly deserved more. A shame that those in high ranking positions believe themselves to be above consequence. If only there were more people around able to show them the folly of that belief.

[He speaks as if he has personal experience in the matter. But like Sherlock, sometimes one can say a lot without saying much at all.]

Someone eventually did through less than legal means. I read an article about his murder in the newspaper. I have not and will not lose any sleep over that matter.

[ Sherlock doesn't know if her people sought revenge upon their freedom from the refugee camp or if he had run afoul of someone else. Or if some party grew out of control, resulted in his death, and claimed it murder to save face. ]

My, how unfortunate for him! I can only pray that justice will be delivered!

[Sherlock can probably here the thick sarcasm dripping from each word typed out here.]

Yes, I am sure the capable police of Cordona can investigate matters. Sergeant Stark got a promotion for the guidance he gave me while solving all those cases for the police, after all.

[ The sarcasm is equally met. Stark did absolutely nothing but take credit for all of Sherlock's work. ]
