TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

Lucky isn't the word I would use. But yeah, he learned his lesson. He's young, he's still got plenty of mistakes to make.

Pray do not be so hard on yourself. You love him, do you not? And you helped him set things right.

He might be upset now, but I think he will realize your feelings in time.

I do, but I've made way bigger mistakes than he'll ever do in his entire life. And I've got to spend the rest of my life making up for that. I don't want him to do the same things I did.

Making mistakes doesn't make you a bad person. That you have resolved to do better and have taken steps to do so indicates you to be much the opposite.

The reason I'm not playing this game as it is written is because my experiences have made me detest lying. So I'm not lying when I say your son is lucky to have you for a mother, flaws and mistakes and all.

All right, I know when I've been beat, I'll surrender for now, no more bad-mouthing myself.

Since you went on the praise train, you want me to tell you which was the actual lie?

I would rather learn about the other truth, if you wish to share another tale.

It's less of a story and more of my family just being straight up unusual, but number one was the other truth! My uncle is the richest duck in the world, so he could afford to make my dental fillings pure gold.

I'm not familiar with the practice, but it seems a good choice of metal. Gold is stable and does not oxidize like so many others.

Let's just say I'm probably the only duck in the world with teeth like that. That's how rare it is, and how rich my uncle is.

Ah, that's a shame. Since it appears to have worked well, let us hope that the practice becomes approved for wider distribution.

I wouldn't count on it anytime soon. Plus, my Uncle isn't exactly the sharing type. One time he went totally bananas because he "lost" 87 cents.

[Having never heard the phrase "totally bananas", it takes Erichthonios a few moments to piece its potential meaning together from context. He'll have to look it up properly later.]

How unfortunate. I hope he finds the strength to overcome his fear of losing things. 'Tis not good for him, to fret so.

Not to worry, my kids set him straight and figured out what was really going on. When they're not causing time tornados, they're super amazing and smart and clever!

I'm glad. 'Tis good to know that some families both love and look out for each other.
