TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

Hehehe, that one's true too! Sorry Sherlock!

The lie is that I don't own a phone! I actually do own one!

[ Well, that is a surprise. ]

Is it more or less technologically advanced compared to the shellphone?

Well, it's more or less the same as the shellphones here. It's actually a little less so, because the one I have doesn't have text to speech. But I manage ok.

I got one after my friends and I all went back to our own homes, so we could keep in touch. Even if it's hard to use, they're pretty handy!

Such a thing does not exist in my world. The closest we have is the telegram which can only send short text messages to specific locations. For the message to go elsewhere, it has to be transcribed and delivered.

Wow, really?

That sounds like how my grandfather said things used to be back when he was really young. There weren't always phones or computers or big robots or anything like that. Honestly, sometimes that sounds kind of nice. Big cities full of metal and machines bother my nose.

I dare say you would still find reason to complain being in my world. London especially is constantly covered in ash from the factories. When the fog rolls in or the weather turns cold, it becomes especially bad.
feralhumanity: (It’s embarrassing..!)

Oh man, that sounds awful! My nose is already aching just thinking about it.

Doesn’t it bother you? That much ash and fog, wouldn’t it bother your nose?? Human noses aren’t THAT weak, are they??

When it is especially bad, we try to remain indoors or go outside covered up. Dusting is a constant chore. However, it does provide the opportunity to obtain certain kinds of evidence.

[ As someone who nearly drowned in a pond as a child and the illness resulting from it and the smoking (which he as accidentally quit in this world, yay), Sherlock really should be more concerned with the state of his lungs. ]

That just sounds awful. Even if it's good for evidence, it sounds like it's better to live outside the city to me.

Some do for their health if they can afford it. However, work is more often found in the cities. People may not have the option.

Man, I gotta wonder why it is humans make things so hard for themselves.

Even back home, humans just... always seem to do things for money or work. It just seems to make things hard for themselves and others.

If you can answer that, then I believe you would solve all manner of philosophical questions and theorizing.
