Hello.

I am in need of legal advice regarding a private matter:

Is a marriage contract legally binding if one or more parties involved were under the influence of spiritual possession while it was officiated?

Getting my ass kicked seems way less terrifying than not knowing whether or not I'm married to someone I probably don't want to be married to.

(Do they even want to be married? Ever? It's not something they really thought about, since they can't legally marry anyway.)

I doubt that marrying a stranger is as frightening as it sounds. You will have ample time to get to know each other over the course of your marriage.

[ As someone who grew up expecting to get married for political reasons and not romantic ones, the prospect of not knowing or liking their future spouse is something Zelda expects. Not that she wants to marry a stranger or someone she dislikes, but if they're the most suitable person to be her consort and rule at her side, then that's just the way it's gonna be. ]

But that is irrelevant in this instance. I was wedded to my companion for the evening, who is a close friend. It was not an unpleasant experience, especially compared to attempted murder.

(Is she kidding? Marrying a stranger sounds like a nightmare! Their stomach churns at the thought of being bound to some stranger, of having to let them touch them like that.

It's enough to make them panic, almost.)

Sure they're just a friend? If you're so interested in marrying them.

They are still my friend, but they have become... more than that now. To be honest, I am not entirely certain what we are to each other now.

[ For whatever reason, Zelda's getting the vibe that their sympathy might not be completely heartfelt. Their comment almost sounds a bit sardonic. (It's so difficult to read people through text alone.) ]

My thanks. [ Sardonic or not, Zelda replies sincerely. ] Given the unexpectedly-reasonable explanation that the spirit donned my body like clothing, I expect the dubious legality of my marriage will fall in my favor.

(It's a weird mix of both: the concept of suddenly waking up to find that they're married to someone they're close with is perhaps less horrifying than being forced to marry a stranger, but it's still terrifyingly awkward. They don't have a lot of faith in this turning out well.

But this person clearly has a very different view of things, so...

It's really not their business.)

Yeah it'd be pretty awkward if the courts decided that the clothes used in a wedding also counted as being married.

(Would the bride and groom outfits be legally required to be kept together? Worn together? It's a funny train of thought, and they let their mind follow it for the moment.)
