Okay guys, I need you all to settle a bit of an argument Zelda and I are having.

See, we were out shopping for furniture for our new place and she tells me I need a bed. I say "you're right, I do! I know just the type!" So I go and I show her the hammocks because back home, I slept in a hammock. So she says [Darin clears his throat and proceeds to do his best Zelda voice] "Don't be preposterous, a hammock is not a proper bed."

Which is wrong. Because a hammock is totally a bed. Lots of things can be beds. So, to prove my point, I made this chart.



As you can see by this chart that I spent entirely too much time on, the parameters that dictate an objects "bedability" are thus. I think it's a pretty open and shut case.

Anyway, I think this explains why I should be allowed to get a hammock in my room. You guys are on my side on this, right?

Besides, what's not 'proper' about a hammock, huh?

I'm going to have to side with the lass on that argument, unfortunately. Hammocks are comfortable, but even I can't say it's a "proper" bed, meaning what most would think normal or expected.

I'm just saying that I like hammocks just fine. It'd be weird to be in a nice bed.

Now I am going to assume you've already been bombarded with questions and suggestions about whether the lady would stay in your room, so I won't torment you further with that for now.

Instead I'll cut right to a solution that would satisfy both your needs, and wouldn't be bad for you to have should the need raise—

Have both.

A hammock you can put anywhere so long as you have something to tie the ends to. So, just have a pull out bed or one that you can swing up against the wall and pull down if you ever need it. When not used as a bed, you can have drawers in the frame to use as extra storage.

Actually, my point was going to be that you should just go ahead and use hers while keeping the hammock for yourself for when you want to relax elsewise.

The situation is that we're roommates. I just bought a house and the apartments were terrible and I asked her if she wanted to live with me.

[He designed the house and specifically made a room he thought she'd love because she's done so much for him and he's kind of smitten but like hell he's going to say that now.]
