It would be irresponsible for them not to disclose such a thing. A house is no small purchase. To buy one, one must first be made aware of all of the facts and details surrounding the house.

Who cares about responsibility when there's money on the line? I want to know my recourse if they don't adequately inform me.

I feel as if it is dependent on where you are purchasing the home. Paladins are more likely to disclose such matters than the Corsairs.

Well that's definitely true. Paladins would probably send holy water along with you.

That would be my assumption, but with enough money involved they might choose to withhold that information to not scare you off.

That's my concern, of course. "Haunted" does tend to turn buyers off.

You may be owed some manner of recompense if you are sold a home and are not properly told of its status with regards to hauntings or spectral presences. I imagine the difference would vary largely in the vendor -- a Paladin may believe you are owed compensation, while a Corsair salesperson may insist that they are not to blame for overlooking such details.

If you are searching for a new home, do you wish for it to be haunted?

I haven't decided yet. I think there's something to be said about the aesthetic of it! But ghosts can be quite the hassle.

It's practical. And as much as I enjoy the quiet, it's rather new.

As someone who lived in an house many thought was haunted but was not.. it can be interesting to hear what people think to say.

[Sure his house had a hole in the roof and was decaying and had dead bodies in it... but it wasn't haunted.]

If it is a big enough home there will be corners that are silent still.

That is understandable. If the ghosts are haunting an estate, it is likely due to having unfinished goals tied to the house in question. You may find yourself drawing their ire in such a case.

Though it is embarrassing to have allowed the haunting to occur in the first place, it is the estate manager's duty to disclose that it has happened if they are to correct it on behalf of their lord.

If they dont: cannot disclose obviously but they shouldve checked

So yes [ There's probably just like whole disputes about haunted houses on the Surface that Kimmuriel has unashamedly eavesdropped on, it's like the equivalent of trashy TV for him.

(In Menzoberranzan, of course, any ghosts are usually vaporized or imprisoned for future use, by priestesses or wizards as appropriate. You can't just leave them lying around they're a resource.) ]

Perhaps if we are loud enough, the dead will come to watch regardless of if it is haunted or not.
