[This is an impromptu showerthoughts network post where characters can post their random thinky thoughts and others can tag them with their commentary on it. Post your character, provide some showerthoughts and tag around! You can always use this reddit or tfln for some ideas.]

not the real deep ones, though. of course.]
I often wonder who was the first person who decided to hang a sheet from a stick and turn a plain little canoe into a voyage.
Or the first who realized the stars above were a map.

They'd be someone I'd like to know. Did the name survive where you're from?

Which one is your favorite?

That's a good one to end an evening with, if you're of a mind to send everyone home sad and sentimental.
But the Drunken Sailor's a good choice. Especially when folk start adding their own ideas of what to do with the fellow.
no subject
What kind of ideas?
no subject
As for ideas for the drunken sailor... there's the rusty razor and the longboat, and more besides... but I like the idea "get him on the bow to scrub the dragon."
no subject
Oh! I like the dragon one. I'd want to scrub a dragon.

If they're in a real sentimental mood, say. Singing a sad song makes them feel better about it.
Do you like dragons?
no subject
Very much! We didn't have them in my world
no subject
No dragons, eh? That's a shame. They're good creatures. Well, mostly.
no subject
It is a shame! ...mostly?

so he won't.]
There's plenty of them that see your average person as a dinner on legs, I won't deny that. But it isn't true for all of them--and if you can make friends with them, you'll never find a truer one.

What I cannot wrap my head around is people who discovered how to eat poisonous foods, especially ones that require multiple processes to make them safe.
no subject
Or oysters, for that matter. When you get down to it they're unappealing little blighters to the eye.

I always thought it would be a strange thing to survive the battle to be killed by one's food.

Perhaps daredevils or those who are culinarily obsessed are the ones who discovered. Or ones failing to poison their enemies.
no subject
but no the poison never gets to be harmless in those cases.]
Wouldn't that be embarrassing? You're sitting there waiting for your little murder plot to bear fruit and then it turns out all you've done is started a culinary craze.
no subject
I suppose an enterprising sort would ride their success and pretend it had been their plan all along, but I would certainly consider myself a failure til the end of my days. Not that I know much of poisons.
no subject
I know a little too much. [wait. also wait he shouldn't have sent that UGH.] As a witness, not a practitioner.
